Not sure really.

Looking at the benchmarks of a imac (x1600) between mac osx and windows xp, xp is way ahead in terms of FPS performance. Probably where the ATi osx drivers aren't as good as the windows ones (just like the linux ones). Altho I guess it might be different on a nvidia card.

What is the best GPU on a mac atm?

A mac pro with dual 7300 GT/single X1900XT in comparison to the pc with a 8800GTX or even 2x8800GTX.

I love macs and hope they evolve in terms of gaming etc. With the current state of mac specifications it's just not going to happen.

I have seen rumours of new black uber imacs etc so I guess we can only hope

Mac Pro's have either 7300GT, X1900XT or nVidia Quadro FX 4500

MacBook Pro's have nVidia 8600GM in them

Pretty darn good, especially if you have an 8 Core Mac Pro

unfortunatelty I can`t comment. They seem to get delivered and go straight to the department within a day these days, so I have zero opportunity to mess with them.

Did plan on using some that were stored here for ages.. but they`ve gone (nothing to do with me)

I do know tho that a pc with a certain card performs differently to a mac with the same card. They talk to the gfx cards differently for one thing. No Dx9/10 to work around kinda thing.

With the current state of mac specifications it's just not going to happen.

I definately wouldn`t say that. I`ve seen old macs do some .. things ..
