Enabling Optical sound in Ubuntu

Onboard or sound card? To get your optical line working you are going to need a full-on working set of factory drivers for your soundcard/onboard.

iv got standard line out working though

Sorry what I meant to say was no drivers, no sound via optical. The only way you will get optical output is with the ability to control the media chipset, and the only way to get that control is through a full functioning linux driver.

That x fi is 64 bit only :(

OMMMMG JOE you did it again - are you god or something?

There was a IEC option and all i did was turn the volume up on it!! :D

Was looking for Spdif not IEC before lollllll :) Happy!

you'll be gettin reps as soon as ive "passed" more around lol

I have a feeling its my actual volume settings or something - sounds fine via line in!

I dont have a decent sound recorder so it wouldnt show up off an internal recording.
