Its a really good game, ask Remember he's spent an obscene amount of time, i mean i've put about maybe 400 hours into it and that doesnt even scratch the surface!

But.... be warned, you will lose all track of time!

If we don't have the steam version but the client version, that mean we will be getting it too?

I'll make enquiries, I can't see them limiting it to only copies used via steam, I'm not sure if the Vive only works 'with' steam or if it's just classed as a third party device like the oculus, I'll let you know. I haven't heard anyone say it's specific to the Steam copy though. If it is, as people have said you can attach your retail copy to steam and use their download servers n what not, but then of course your future stuff will be giving steam an extra cut :P

I'll get back to you soon as I hear owt.

I've had various people telling me I should give this a go. Might be time to jump aboard ship and give it a go :D

Plus I guess it's always nice to help pay SuBs wages :p

I really want to try this game...... and it is on sale on steam.....

I'd prefer to buy from the developer though, give them Steams 30%... it is on sale there too....

I think I have to buy this! Do some space trucking and listen to a few podcasts.

It's only worth it if you actually buy a HOTAS system. Otherwise it's pretty boring and rather annoying using a K&M. Without the HOTAS system it's half the immersion wiped away. Think anyone here would agree on that. Thrustmaster sell a HOTAS for pretty cheap. I own one and bought it specifically for this game, while it's great(works with W10 too) I wish I got a slightly higher end model, my issue with it is the lack of buttons.. and it has 13 lol:p You really can't have enough buttons!

It's an awesome game. Frustrating at times because it's like life - if you really screw it up it takes some work to get back. Lost about $90M when my Type -9 got hijacked twice in two trips and didn't have enough insurance. Took a month off in rage, then took me about three months on and off to build back up to where I'm at now.

Kids - Always keep enough coin for insurance.

Developers - would be great if you could pre-purchase your insurance policy so you don't accidentally over spend on equipment or cargo!!

I would love to try VR with it. I run on three screens and it's pretty immersive as it is. Just wonder about motion sickness and headaches but that's the same with any game and any type of VR. It works for you or it doesn't. Hope it's not just limited to Steam versions.

I use the launcher - Sometimes the updates can be slow to download (maybe it's because I'm in Oz) compared to Steam but I'd rather all the money goes to the devs.

+1 for the Elite Dangerous OC3D community idea.

CMDR Jimmy Carlyle. Currently pimping out my python - and chilling somewhere near Cerno.

Definitely agree with this HOTAS is the way to go with this title, and if not with VR, definitely with head tracking, you get immense benefits from being able to look around while you fly. It's very natural. Just waiting for an answer on the Steam VR thing now.

Steam still get a cut of all your future purchases from the store now then :P (paint jobs etc)

Just been told there's no sign of it being steam only, so you can use it like an occulus as basically, just a peripheral :)

edit: oops double post, merged

I have the lifetime expansion.. so exicted for Horizons, half the reason I spent so much so long ago!:)

And thanks for the answer:)

Out of curiosity, is it worth getting the headtracking or the Oculus? They kinda seem like they do the same thing and afaik the headtracking stuff on amazon is much cheaper in comparison to what the Oculus will cost

Sweet. Horizons is on my wish list. Lifetime expansion dreams have been dashed by the weak Aussie dollar.

Good news on the Steam VR - Makes sense to support all mainstream peripherals regardless of the distribution platform.
