Electricity billage

Right, after so many phone calls, £60 bill for my phone calls etc...

They blamed me for excessive consumption. I said excuse me but I'm hardly here and all that's on is a fridge, freezer and hot water so how can you say that's excessive consumption. She then looked at my power usage and said my power usage was lower than she has seen and in this area. I asked why my bill was so high and she blames it on my excessive consumption again???? So after another phone call to British Gas they will switch us if our current provider gets rid of our other meter (yes I now know what they meant by comfort heating) which I had to call AGAIN and they have agreed to take it out, but at a cost....

This is what has happened:

I have a pre-payment meter which is on a current tariff

and a seperate supply number which is for heatwise (apparently similar to economy 10)

so basically we have the cheapest tariff and its not meant to be around here, apparently Scotland is meant to have heatwise, not the West Midlands... So I'm really angry at them for doing this to me, they refused to change it when I asked. I asked to speak to someone higher up but they hesitated and said they would remove it, but ofcourse at my cost :/.

So after many phone calls I will be paying £50 per month with British Gas and that was a promised quote after meter readings and such.

E-On still fails to admit there is a fault or something not right, I said look at the consumption and the price per unit, now work out the math yourself, he said it doesn't add up but it's still ME IN THE WRONG. I come back after like 12 hours out of the flat to find i had to go into the emergency after I put £15 in before I went out. So my freezer could of well been off for 6 hours.

So angry and got to wait until 12th March for them to take it out.

I suppose at least it's good they're taking it out and British Gas have given you a MUCH MUCH more reasonable quote. Really stupid they're making you foot the bill to remove it, when they messed up badly.

I was wondering whether possibly you had a case of complaint with http://www.energywatch.org.uk/? Maybe they can get to the bottom of it and hopefully get you some kind of refund or actual apology instead of E-On just blaming you when they can even see the maths doesn't work.

I did go to Citizens Advice the other day about all of this, they didn't help at all. E-On still insisted that I was using the correct amount of electricity and my bills were right.

I will try and take a case up about this though, but as soon as I change from them, not being with them any longer lol.

Cheers for the link :).

turn every thing off in the hose and i mean every thing. sit there and see if its going up.

If it is then you need to speek to you land lord i rember this from years ago but i found i had problems then i found out the washing machean up stiars was linked to my meter and i was paying for one else electric usage.

You can leave you frige / freezer off for a couple of hours with out any problmes.

Check meter reading just after you turn off. wait 1 hours and then compaire the meter reading if its gone up after you unplugged every thing and Pulled all the fuses (or switched them off ) then there is a problem.

Again as ive said every thing off and keep an eye on the meter.

If it goes down and every thing is off then you have valid proof there is a problem. and when they give you crap tell them you contacting the obisman and watch dog (TV) about whats happening.

Yeah this is what I'm wondering. Right now it's going slower than it ever has but tomorrow it will be really expensive.

The meter has no debt, we're in credit by £2 lol, which I don't see how that works since we use a tariff and pay the right amount (apparently) so how can you even be paying too much or too less if the meter is calibrated correctly.

No weed factory (looks away:D) which is a shame ofcourse.

Today I'm here all day, I'm gonna whack everything on I think to see the usage. Will post whilst crying to say how much I need lol.

Cheers.

Damn, it really does sound like your meter's are fucked. I would really get someone out from British Gas to come and check them. Or turn everything off for one day and see what happens.

I'm with E-On but I'll be going to British Gas soon (fingers crossed ofcourse) they've quoted £50 direct debit, which is a lot better.
