EK reveals their EK-Vector series of RTX 2000 series water blocks

As beautiful as it is.

Their pricing is getting out of hand.

I always bought reference blocks and when I look back at pricing

780Ti - €79
980TI - €99
1080ti - €129

And now...

2080ti - € 149

I always went with nickel. Am I really forced into the RGB just to get the same nickel plated coating? I see backplates have gone up €20 also...

I am in no way sticking up for EK but I have a feeling the 1080Ti block could be very big. Well, need a big block of copper to make contact with it. People also demand RGB now, which adds massively to the cost. A few years ago RGB LEDs were £8 each or more. I know prices have dropped now but it all just adds cost.

99% of that cost though will be the price of copper dude. It's ludicrous right now.

It sucks that things are getting so expensive... That being said, water cooling has always been a premium option. For €150 I'd want the block to ship with a backplate.

Yeah so would I TBH. My back plate was expensive I feel (£25) but it does come with a VRM heat pipe that connects into the coolant flow which is badass. I got my block on the cheap for £90 and was happy with that.

Whilst I can excuse the price of copper, tanking of the pound and so on the back plate is just alu and alu isn't expensive.

Based on the design, it looks marginally bigger than the 1080ti. I assume you meant 2080ti. There is nothing different in design really except the additional side light that surrounds the ports. Something you can pay extra and add to the 1080ti block anyway

Yeah. To be honest dude if you can afford to drop £1100 on a GPU then £500 to cool it isn't so crazy.

Nah I disagree slightly there. EK are being greedy now, as you mentioned, a backplate was £25 or so (same for me in NoK), and now they want €50 for the same thing? How do they justify the increase.

I get that the new GPU is going to instantly become a niche market due to cost, but just because of that, it doesnt give the right for others to jump in and hike up prices.

For those who have scraped together their saving for this card (because some have been saving a while waiting for Nvidias new card), I doubt anyone expected it to be this much, and then when you see block prices higher too, I think its unfair to the consumer.

If EK can validate the pricing then fine. Copper has not increased that much that they can have a €30 cost plus model.

lol you watch you will be able to get Bitspower for those prices.

TBH EK can charge whatever they like, so long as people will pay for it. I wouldn't I know that.

I can get BP blocks cheaper yes. But they usually slap a stupid dragon on them. While I love their fittings and reservoirs, I hate their blocks.

I've used EK products for years, and they are (and always have been) WAY over priced for what you get. WAY over. Watercool sells better products at better prices. EK is a gouging company, which makes them the perfect bed buddy for Nvidia. Warchild alluded to it above, why charge a premium for a BACK PLATE?!?! That doesn't get any more expensive to produce. Just a sign that EK are gougers. They make ok stuff sometimes, but nothing that justifies their exorbitant prices.

Yep, and being the anti-fan of RGB, I want a nickel block without the lighting.
