EK releases their EK-Loop 48-bit Screwdriver Basic Set

I was expecting a massive mark-up but 20€ seems fairly reasonable.

Though I'm quite fond of my iFixit Pro Tech clone I got for 24€ or so. I think it's branded Jvmac. I find it difficult to believe that iFixit sets are good for the price doe to their aggressive advertisement campaigns.

True, yet iFixit is more or less the most well known in our industry basically.

"Our Industry"??? You mean to say screwdrivers are made specifically for one industry? If it fits it fits it doesn't matter what brand it is lol

I use a no name brand screwdriver that fits in every screw in a PC. Only ones it can't do is super tiny ones that require a specific small size. But it's done 99% of the screws I've ever come across for 10 years in PC building.

You don't need an ifixit kit. If you need to work on laptops, a cheap torx set is all you need.

I think it's weird EK are entering this market. I guess it's a cheap add on they can advertise while you are in the cart

No, I don’t. Seeing as I doubt you’d use this or an iFixit kit for your car or to work on an tank. Then you’d most likely use an wrench etc and those you probably wouldn’t use with computers.
That’s what I meant with ”our industry”, since the military nor cars is our industry now is it? It’s PCs.

You disagree then go on to agree with me?

Again point is it doesn't really matter if it's meant for PCs or not... A screw is a screw and a screw driver is a screw driver. If it fits it will turn it. You don't need an ifixit kit or an EK kit to do PCs stuff. Any will do... Though it's nice to have you should not be thinking I must have this to work on a PC. I just wanted you to be aware of that as you could end up wasting money.

And having used screw drivers(of various kinds) for car stuff I can say I used the same ones as I use on my PC too. No idea why you'd mention a tank. Most of that is extremely large bolts and welds, presumably.

Tool is a tool, but the mix of most commonly required tools varies per industry (or brand you tend to work on). Desktop PCs are easy, but having a prying tool, squeezers and PH0 screwdriver in same set is pretty nice when working on a laptop. Obviously they don't have to be from the same set, but there's definitely toolkits assembled with certain jobs in mind.

Seeing that we're on a forum where people spend hundreds of euros upgrading to water cooling, even when stock fans technically do the job reasonably well, I don't see dishing out ~30€ on a toolkit too extravagant.

I have all the tools i need these toolkits are so not worth most peoples time you really don't need very much and so many things are hand tight, maybe the best thing i got that i found handy was some small cutters for zipties to tidy them up :)

I agree I just wanted to make it known to him that he doesn't specifically need this as he made it seem you need it in order to work with PCs. Just didn't want him wasting money. Sure it's not crazy expensive but hey if you can do the job already then mine as well save and improve a different area of your build is my line of thinking.

No you didn’t, you questioned when I said that iFixit is basically more or less the most well known brand in our industry. That’s all I said and you went on about ”our industry??”…

I’m well aware I don’t need this, all you need is a phillips screw driver and you’re all set.

You took what I wrote that way, it’s not how I see it when I read back in this thread.

Anywho, I’m off this thread now.

Not to argue but im pretty sure iFixit is more commonly used in the mobile industry since quite a few sets get a suction pad and shims for mobile face/back removal.

When it comes to PCs, its almost a one size fits all philips head. I see no reason what so ever in needing screw bits. The only exception would be 2 different allen keys for waterblocks, but thats it.

30euro maybe a decent price, but its just not necessary.
Yes it has a versatile assortment, but 90% of them arent needed.

Arguing over a set of screw drivers? The internet never ceases to amaze me.

On topic, I'd grab a Ifixit kit just because of Jayz2Cent' advertisement of them haha.

haha he really does love them doesnt he. Some of his videos showing almost every bit scattered around the studio makes me wonder that they keep sending him more and he has no where to store them anymore :D

Well, for PCs, one of these is pretty nice for motherboard stand-offs:

Though most cases come with an adapter but there's some satisfaction in having the right tool for the job. But getting satisfied by that and cracking puns gets me worried that I might unknowingly be a dad.

I have an Ifixit set what I found they are really useful for is kids toys which seem to have the tiniest of screws and all different types
