EK has announced their new GTX Titan X Pascal water block. Why would you limit the cooling potential of your $1200 GPU with the stock air cooler?

Now why couldnt nVidia just stick with the old layout since they are reusing the name. Could at least avoid some of the confusion with purchasing.

It's a different line. You're thinking of the Nvidia GeForce GTX TITAN X. This is just the Nvidia TITAN X. One is marketed to gamers. The other is sort of marketed to pros and prosumers (but we know who else will be buying them.)

It's not Nvidia's fault the public is easily confused.

It's also probably for another reason not a lot of people think about: Purchase Orders from system builders and big companies.
