Early 900 Series Benchmark Figures Leaked

So it seems that a certain well known user on a well established forum has leaked quite an in detail benchmark table showing off the performance of the new 900 series vs the older 700 series.

Some of the details are a little unclear but the overall picture IF this is real is quite clear.

Awesome; I hope these benchmarks are correct, they look promising...

I feel like the 980 has been slammed pretty hard pre-release. I was really starting to lean toward getting a 780Ti for my new rig but I hope these figures do hold true.

What are your thoughts? XD

Well if these are correct then for people already on the 780 Ti or 290X I'd wait until a 980 Ti or AMD's new series, If your coming from a GTX 600 series card or AMD 7000 series or earlier then yes by all means go for Maxwell :)

Well... I am coming from a GTX 570 and really need an upgrade as I have just purchased an Asus PB278Q 2560x1440 monitor; so either way it is a win win for me!

But yes I can see why you wouldn't (I want to say upgrade, but I don't know if it is really an upgrade) "swap" a 780Ti for a 980 when they hit the market.

Speaking of which, if say the GTX 900 series is announced tomorrow (which I think it will be if I am correct) when can we expect them to hit the market for sale to the public?

Judging by last years release I'd say within 4 weeks of the announcement :)

Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that GPU's and hardware in general is moving forward and getting better. Somehow though, I can't help but feel like Nvidia is starting to do the "Iphone" marketing strategy. New, slightly better models each year for a brand new price... pushing the sales rather than pushing the envelope.

I get that this picture might be fake, and I get that they're a company that focus on a financially rewarding production line. Not saying that it's currently a problem, in fact it works great considering the price of the last generation of cards drop as new ones hit the shelf. Just contemplating the future of the industry.

-Yup, I know it's way to early to judge the new series.

According to one of the salesman at OCUK *Never listen to salesmen* the 980 is Simply WOW.

2 things I'm sick of in most industries -

1. The sales people, they will say and do anything to get you to part with your money.

2. The companies that make these items keep drip feeding technology when we should be getting huge advancements instead of this BS, Yes I know the fat old ugly men and woman at the top need to fill their bank accounts but it's starting to get really stale.

Whats will interest me the most is how the youtubers like Linus Tech Tips, Hardware Canucks, Tech of Tomorrow, Tek syndicate etc. (and of course our GUV!) will either praise them like its the new best card ever or just stay on the ground and state what it is, an update in things like powerconsumption. Depending on these reaction one can see if they got some marketing guy from Nvidia under the table with a gun :p
I will also directly unsubscribe from one of those if I see that kind of reaction

At some point all reviewers in every industry are bought off by the fat uglys at the top be it through sponsorships, Free items etc...It's human nature.

I don't care if the reviewers say it's a great card, it probably is. And in some cases for some people it's probably worth it as well. But as Dicehunter said; the problem is this drip feeding of technological improvement. The problem lies with the manufacturers.

EDIT: I must say though, I like the way Tom makes people aware of what you actually get compared to the older cards. Not necessarily in performance, but in tech.

Its quite a difficult topic :/
I think as long as the rewiever doesnt only read their given text but also gives HIS opinion its 'ok' I think
somehow money has to be made

Funny,I saw this graph a few days ago,and it did NOT say 970/980,they were marked as Nvidia Generic vga........

I know Tom always thankfully says what's on his mind but sadly that's not the case with a lot of other reviewers, They are easily bought off which then leads to biased reviews.
