E8600 & Biostar T-Power I45

As this is such a common problem I have heard of I thought there would be more on it, but mine seems not to fit the same parameters.

I have disabled C1E & SpeedStep, underclocked, overclock & set to stock all speeds/volts, yet my multiplier constantly drops STILL. v annoying as I predict this is what is stopping me change the voltages in T-Power2 (OS based OC Tweaker)

I have searched other threads and google, they just seem to be "Oh I forgot about C1E!" etc.

Any help AT all would be very appreciated =]

(Resetting CMOS is still an option but would rather not get to that)

is it the tpower software?

i know some bundled software kicks in and uses power saving stuff.

could it be the bios revision?

Not that familiar with the TPower, check your Windows 7 power options are set to performance and that the 2 cpu states are 100% with in.

Still nothing - clear the bios. That fails, update the bios - it could be that the current bios you have doesn't have the correct unicode for the 8600. ??

Thanks for the replies,

I have fiddled with the power saving options (including advanced options)

Diddn't really see anything that would throttle CPU performance/power :/

I'll have another look.

And as for the BIOS, I have checked their website and they only have 2 newer versions, one fixing a POST screen GUI bug and another for upcoming compatabilty

I have a Biostar Tpower I45

Not noticed this

I don't use any of the Biostar software to do anything and have my E6400 overclocked to 3.2Ghz (I've never used any software overclocking tools for CPU's)

Might be putting in a E8400 soon.

Will check my BIOS

edit:

Just checked in my BIOS

Ver: 08.00.15

Also had this problem with Vista but it diddn't bother me as I wasn't gaming or overclocking much, but just starting back up again now ive moved and settled.
