Yeah. Thing is right now that E8600 is like, 'free power'. It's bought, paid for and doing nothing. All you need to reach is the 60 FPS cap on a game and your'e sorted so I just don't see the reasoning behind throwing away a very decent chip with massive OC potential for say an I3/5 which at those clocks (4.5ghz) wouldn't make a massive difference any way.
Intel's best moment was the core 2 duo. That was what put AMD right on the backfoot.
I mean at the end of the day he might aswell at least try it and see what occurs before spending more. He has an unbelievably good motherboard too (MSI P7N diamond quad PCIE ETC) that's spanking new in the box, 4gb of Patriot Viper Extreme 1066 DDR2 and so on..
