Yeah - but its 2010. By that time every man and his dog will be doing Multi TB on some sort of disc.

Now if they said this year - or perhaps early next year then it may be something special... But no - its 3 years away in the IT industry...

The difference is 2 years ;) but seriously I think companies do this so that they have a new product to talk about by then. This technology sounds very promising, I hope the disks are in cartridges though.

Yea, sure would suck to lose a TB of data because of some scratches :P

Ya and unless it is different from DVDs it should be very easy to do with that kind of data density.

lol a 1mm scratch is 2 gigs of data :P

Well I am just thinking here, but I wonder how the multiple layers affects it? Does it make it more scratch tolerant or less?

Checking it's all ready for the consumer, testing, bug fixed, getting their fabs ready for mass production, support, compatibility

It all take time

I'm deffo in agreeance on the disc housing... I always loved cart based optical discs, I can't remember the last one I used but I'm pretty sure it was on a Mac back in high school or middle school.
