Im gonna have to reconsider my ram (was gonna get 2gb, but with crazy prices like these  )

Zalman CNPS9500-AT Intel LGA775 Aero Flower Cooler

BLACK Silverstone TJ05 with window

Pioneer DVR-111D DVD±RW / DL 16x6x16x8x Black

OCZ GameXstream 600w

ATI Radeon Sapphire or Powercolor X1900GT 256mb ViVo (depending on st)

Asus P5B Deluxe

Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 250gb

Intel core 2 duo e6300

That be it so far, and I can probably survive (painfully) on 1gb of ram (thats what you get for ordering just after a massive increase in price, just my luck!)

Question is, 512mb x 2, or 1gb x1? If so, which model (specialtech please, if there is something deffo work asking for, please list)

If 512mb x2 is the answer will these serve me well

The 1 x 1gb or 2 x 512mb debate is a pretty tough one actually... You are going to sacrifice a small bit of performance going with the single 1gb stick BUT you are leaving yourself a very easy upgrade path to slap in a second 1gb stick later down the road. Whereas if you decide to go with the dual 512's u get the instant performance of running dual channel but you've kind of locked yourself out of going to 2gb the best way (best way = 2 x 1gb not 4 x 512mb).

Do you think you will have the money to pop in a second 1gb stick in the near future? If so then I'd go with the single stick and just rock that till u can afford another. If you don't think you'll be needing more than the 1gb or wanting to fork out for the extra gig, then just go for the dual 512's.

I say a gb stick tbh, then when the price is right get another.

Add: I got dam lucky with my g.skill. You considered Ebay?

Yeah, memory pricing is awful at the moment, we saw some of our prices rise up to £60 pretty much over night

There's no signs of it coming back down in the next few weeks either which is a pity.

For that Mobo I'd recommend a Dual Channel kit becuase on a personal note I've recently just changed from 4 x 512mb to 2 x 1gb Dual Channel and it seems to have cleared up some of my PC crashing activities.

Other than that as people have said, go for a 1gb stick then add another when funds allow.

the rest should be coming from specialtech soon
