Dual Screen issue, one screen shuts off when gaming

Has been a while since my last post, but you guys have been great in the past, hopefully you can shed some light.

I have 2 Acer V223HQV 1920x1080 monitors, and while working on the desktop browsing they work fine...issue comes when I load up a game.
After a minute or so, the second screen starts to flicker and then just shuts off, remains off until I close the game and unplug re plug the monitor.

I've tested this on two cards. HD 7750 1GB and and GTX 570 1280MB and both do the same, however it seems that the 570 takes a little longer for the screen to shut off...

I've read that switching Windows Aero off also helps, and I tried this and i was surprised to see that it does help (or seem to) a little bit extra. Both monitors are VGA only, and I have them connected to the DVI and HDMI ports through adapters.

Im guessing this is a VRAM issue, but I cant be certain.... I have a 7870 2gb coming on thursday as the 570 is like a jet engine and needs to go, and also hoping that the 2GB vram should solve it.

Or am I being a numpty ?

Have you tried switching the monitors to rule out a bad monitor?

Check the refresh rates on both under adapter settings.

Try what AlienALX mentioned above, but also what Windows OS are you on?... Have you also set them up correctly inside Windows monitor configurator (or whatever it's called? - Ie, the one which you say that this is screen 1 and this is screen 2. And this is where screen 1 is placed and this is where screen 2 is placed etc)?...

Also check whether one is going into power saving (or sleep) mode when it's inactive. Seems strange that it would be replicated using both Nvidia and AMD drivers. Did you do a driver clean when changing cards?

I had dual monitors on a 570GTX and no issues on W7. I run four now on W10.

Don't forget there may be more than one place to set up your monitors - Windows display properties as well as Nvidia control panel (or the AMD equivalent)

Could also be a cable issue. Switch your primary display over on to the other monitor (windows display properties - set as primary off the top of my head) to see whether it's hardware or software.

I've had similar issues using 3x1 NVidia surround along with an extra accessory panel. Sometimes the accessory display will switch off and you have to hard reset it. Turned out to be a dodgy connection.

I'm pretty sure I found the issue (kinda the hard way)

I bought

...not that exact one but same thing, and twice in the space of 30mins, I had some major issue, where BOTH screens shut off and the GTX 570 ramped up to 100% fan speed and then soft locked (GPU temps barely hit 70c before soft locking) .. PC completely unusable but still had audio, resulting in a hard reset.

I've since swapped around my monitors again and now I'm using 1 Acer 1080 screen and 1x 1680x1050 screen, which are connected to the 570 but importantly without using the above cable, and everything works as it should... I streamed on twitch for 2 hours utilising both screen at once without faults...

Not sure if anyone else has bought these cables or uses them now, but I wont be anymore....

Edit: Thank you guys for your input though :) all was helpful in helping to trouble shoot :)

Same style connector that died on me - I have two DVI monitors and two HDMI and to run surround I needed to have the accessory (top DVI) monitor run off the top (primary) graphics card. I think it's just one too many failure points. Due to NV surround limitations in regards to Sync Polarity I couldn't run the two DVI outputs in the same group.

Glad you got it sorted!
