Dual Loops - Advice needed please :)

Hi Guys/Girls,

I need a little advice, I am building a dual loop of the below specs to cool a i5-3570k and a MSI HD 7870 2gb:

XSPC Raystorm CPU Block
2 x XSPC Photon 270 Tube Reservoir
2 x XSPC EX Series 240mm Multiport Dual Radiator
EK FC7870 CSQ Full Cover Waterblock

The reason for the dual loops is I also may add another 7870 in crossfire on the gcard loop, and maybe water cooled dominator ram on the CPU loop.

My question is, what kind of pump and output would you recommend for these 2 loops, bearing in mind each loop will have its own pump, reservoir and radiator.

Any help is greatly appreciated

I would stay in the single loop lane tbh mate. It will be alot easier to make a clean loop since you will have less tubing. You will also save some money since you only need 1 pump and 1 res. The money you save can be reinvested in your second gpu later down the road.

Just my opinion but worth having a thought about it...

Edit: watercooling ram is as useles as using ram fans, the memory doesnt get that hot anyways and the heatspreaders these days do their job good enough. You will also save some money on this end.

Edit2: Wouls also be nice to know in which case your are planning to throw this stuff in ?!

probs stick to a single loop, looks cleaner to be honest, saves money and you can use the money you saved on other things or for use for future upgrades. swiftech mcp655 is a great pump

mate honestly why put all the effort in it with a 3570k and 7870. the loop's gonna cost you more than your hardware

even with two gpus a single loop will do just fine, there is no future proofing via multiple loops, just wasted money. in general i would consider that project a waste because the loop will be more expensive than the hardware.

Its not really the hardware that is important tbh, I want to build something that I can upgrade easily and fits in a certain space.

I may well upgrade the hardware in the future, but wont the loops ready if I do.

Its also a build I have been working on for a while, so I want to build something I can be pleased with

I will post the build logs, once I have more photo's to show, at present I have just made the motherboard tray from acrylic.

So the consensus is a D5,

XSPC Laing D5 Vario Pump with 3 Pin Tacho Cable sounds good.

Really? Actually think about that flow rate and try imagine how slow it would be lol

A D5 is 1200 lph, what you've got there doesn't really seem to fit lol.

By the way get D5s. Swiftech MCP655 Varios are my favourite (no reason, I just prefer them to alphacool etc.)

Sorry was my bad reading, was getting late and had been a long week. The pumps I was looking at seemed to have a flow rate between 440 lth and 1500 lth

I understand I would have to upgrade the waterblocks, when I upgrade, I was looking more at future proofing the reservoir/pump/radiators, so that it would only be tubing and blocks that would need changing. The desk is designed in such a way that I can upgrade the motherboard/CPU in the future.

I haven't really decided on the crossfire yet, but I may well upgrade the graphics card in the near future. It will have to wait a bit thou, as I am currently working on this build, and also a server build in an antec 1200 I have spare. I want to complete these before I complete any upgrades.

I understand the hardware in this build is not top of the range, but this computer takes everything I throw at it, I am not a huge gamer and use the machine more for building virtual servers and labs. The water cooling is more for looks, as this machine is going inside a windowed pine desk, so that it can sit looking pretty in my dining room, but still be functional.

I think the D5 from what I have read will provide me with more future proofing.
