DTS issues

I have a Asus M5A99X Evo. 2.0 mobo that has a built-in realtek 7.1 audio chip. When ever I enable DTS UltraPC 2 control my sound is amazing and there's better distincetion between highs and lows, but if I ever change applications or if the program i'm playing the music on changes songs the sound cuts out. Example, I'm listening to a playlist on youtube and the song changes when its over the sound cuts out for the next song. When going through my playback devices to see if the sound was playing or not it showed the sound was playing through a port like digital or optical even though I had nothing plugged into those ports. so i disabled them thinking that would fix the problem. it didnt. If i dont use DTS control then i have no issues. I really like how DTS makes everything sound better so i would like to be able to use it but my current fix is a hassel because i have to turn off DTS before a song ends in my browser or the sound will cut out and I'll have to refresh my browser. I also can't play a game and have music running at the same time with DTS running. I will either get sound from my game only or music and no game sound. i have the latest driver according to the SlimDrivers utility that I use. Is there any way I can fix this so that I can use the DTS control without all the hassel and cut outs?

Always dedicated soundcard, and use headPHONES not headSET anymore...(massive distinction) and also speakers for movies tbh

Also DTS is a surround sound technology, and while it might sound a bit more 'atmospheric' it's not really meant for music.

DTS so far as I'm aware doesn't like to mix/remux audio sources which is why its not playing ball with you I'd wager.

Personally i've never, ever found onboard sound good enough and ill always seek out something better. I have recently moved from a creative x-fi to a xonar STX and will probably never go back (thanks james)
