Just passed, first time with 1 minor. I feel amazing. To any of you that hasn't done there test yet i would say do as many lessons as possible. Its expensive but when you pass on the first try with only 1 thing wrong its excellent. Now what car should i get £5000 budget.

Love You all

Grats man, i passed a few months ago with only having 4 lessons. i got 4 minors but i think if i had 1 more lesson i could have got 0, just silly mistakes like not checking blind spot and stuff which i didnt really get taught much on the 4 lessons i had. I just cant afford a car now, i dont have a job and the money i do have im saving for uni and a holiday. And i wont really use a car much at uni so i will just be paying £2k a year for insurance so i can drive it every other weekend, its just not worth it.

Congrats mate

I like AMDFTW's recommendations, especially the Fiesta, those cars are built to last and they handle well.

Get something with a turbo which can be easily *ahem* adjusted back and forth through the power range when you need/want to then switched back before an MOT. I'd say an Astra H Coupe 1.9/1.7 CDTi. Low tax, Low insurance, decent looks and quite decent performance while retaining fantastic economy. The bonus of the good diesel is that you can step on it and get performance or drive like a minicabber and get amazing MPG. I'd also suggest any french diesel over a German one, the only problem is I know most people have strange feelings towards french cars for some reason unknown to me

Are you made it will cost me more than the car to insure a car like that, the cheapest iv found is a 2008 fiat 500 1.3l for $4000 the insurance is about £2900. A 1.9l car no matter the age is going to cost about £8000 plus to insure.

The newer the car the cheaper it is for me try looking at elephant.co.uk doesn't really matter on the size engine

Also have a look at a citroën c2 as well as what others have suggested

diesels are cheaper to insure, because bigger engines are needed to produce the power, dont be put off by a 2 litre diesel, the insurance comapnies would treat it like a 1.5 petrol.
