Dothan Overclocking Goodness :)

Soooo close to a 100% overclock on stock air cooling!

This Pentium M 710 beauty arrived this evening, cost me £41 on a certain auction site, 2mb cache, 400FSB :) Thats two nice CPUs in a week :D

Running on a P4P800SE board with the CT-479 adaptor (thanks Its_Me this setup is great).

Stock cooling, Corsair C2PT 2x512Mb RAM.

Scores 24500 in 3DMark 01 with a 6800LE (unlocked to 16pipes + 6vertex units).

Load is about 33 degrees, idles around 20.

PSU+CASE (Arctic Cooling T2 Silentium) = £40

Asus P4P800SE with CT479 and celeron M = £40

Dothan M710 = £41

Corsair C2PT 2x512mb = £65

6800LE with Arctic Silencer = £85 (guarenteed 16p 6v :D)

80Gig HDD = just lying around

So thats about £271 for an entire high spec gaming system with FX55 like CPU power :D

Thats quite a deal for the mobo and adapter aint it? Aren't they usually quite expensive?

Also talking of overclocking ;) the 6800LE what does it perform like... a 6800gt?

Its_me did me a great deal on the mobo, case, adaptor and banias core celeron M, £85 in total with delivery iirc.

Not played with the 6800 much, how can I definitively tell the 16p/6v mod has worked, ati tool artifacts straight away (should still work on NVidia cards I believe). Tried Rthdrible and that works perfectly, so does 3DMark 01, downloading 2005 to give that a whirl next :)

Its in for plenty of abuse, going to use the Vmodded bios to get some decent clocks out of it :)

Ignore the 8mb time, thats an older run:

I had to reset the bios so its not totally tweaked back to how it was before, should be hitting just under 28secs when its sorted :)

There's no denying it Minsta mate - very impressive going, is there any chance with the CT adaptor of going Phase?

Nobody can deny that the Dothan is a legend in our arena - it's teh CPU that should have been used instead of the prescott.

Thanks guys, can't believe the performance of such a cheapo system, was meant to be a backup rig, but its as fast as my main system

I'm pretty sure phase has been done with the CT-479, wouldn't help me, the CPUs FSB wall is the limiting factor for this overclock, stock air is enough to keep temps well below 40 degrees load.
