I wondered this a long time too but i never got around to "cleaning" it cause they're literally kilobytes big

I would too like to know though

I think you could just remove earlier versions of each redist, but you would need to keep a log of what you've uninstalled so that if you try to run a game and it says it can't find such a DLL, it's probably that.

wouldn't bother, the files are pretty small and you don't want to run into troubles caused by missing libraries.

if your looking for space just do a disk cleanup it'll give you any files you can safely delete. Second clean out your system restores keeping only the last one or delete them all and create a fresh one. Or as I do and dont have any at all lol its a tad risky but that how I roll lol. Thirdly disable hibernation it can eat a large chunk of storage space.

I see what you mean with hibernation, I had 40.7GB free before disabling it and now after disabling it I have 52.7GB free

check how much space is being use by system restore it can be upwards of 10+ gigs. When I run with it I normally dump it off on a secondary drive. Basic sys restore package is 1% if your drive. If your not having any issues with your comp delete them all and do a fresh one. I bet it'll be alot smaller than before. As it keeps all restore points until space is needed. Case in point during windows install it can create up to 5 restore points. Ya dont need that many just the last known good one is all that is required.

If you have enough ram delete the hibernation function and remove the virtual memory to another drive or just get rid of it all together. Those are the two biggest ways to get disk space back.

Also as S_I_N said use disk cleanup on the C drive. After it runs hit the "Clean Up System Files" button and after that runs(C drive again) go to the top and go to more options, Clean up "System Restore and Shadow Copies". Go back to disk clean up and select everything you want to delete. Then delete:)

well not really off topic we're under the assumption your looking for more space. I would never recommend deleting any M$ installed updates unless you first back up and then delete something and test programs to make sure nothing was affected. Alot of those M$ files have a way of tying alot of programs together.
