hi, i got some ac rayan alu dust filters on my antec 900 and every time i open it seems as they wasnt even there. my case is always covered in dust. so is it just cheap dust filters or do some actually really work?
Yeah. U gotta be sure that they are in the places where the air intake is/are. They're no good at outtake, obviously, and having other areas where air comes in besides them.
Going from past experiences, u need to be sure to make a point of cleaning them regularly too.
i use naturalaire foam for window airconditioners. 4 bucks for 15"x24" I cant belive how much dust and pollen it catches. just cut it to fit in all my intakes

I'm a heavy smoker (roll-ups) and in short, yes, dust filters work.
My entire set-up, including desk, is black and dust is easilly the biggest thorn in my side, bar none. I've got a 1200 and regularly (every 2-3 weeks) clean my filters. Don't get me wrong, most is probably smoke but they do work, even when I try to cut down by only lighting up at the window ! They are not 100% efficient tho as some dust does get through but nowhere near as much as it would do without them in place. Ventilation does help but the filters do the business !
Air filters are only good if you have a higher intake htan outtake airflow. If they are equal or intake is less, then airfliters aren't needed because the dust should just be taken out.
