DIY : LCD Fan controler

i got a dt prodject that i am doing at the moment a front bay fan controler have compleated the electronics and heres the start of the case

here is the circuit diagram simple but affective

ohh by the way i just noticed the bottom variable resister is ment to be 1m also

anyway tell me what you think

yea i will keep you posted and you can display what you want on the lcd from cpu temps winamp stuff ram usage game stats ect

Definitly. Are you an electronically literit person? Do you know how to make a simple circuit that when on reads the temperature from a K type probe and shows it on a either LCD or one of those single digit (would have to be then stacked for 3 digits worth)/

lol i am only 17

i am not that good at electronics i understand quite a few things like pics and logic simple stuff like that but i by no way am i an electronic engeneer i plan to wire it up to the paralel port and use a program like lcd smarty or crystal fonts to dispaly the information on a hyachi display

it will take as many fans as a single molex can power as it is adjustable with a variable resister on the devider meens that its fully ajustable have run 8 fans off it but they were inexspensive ones it all depends on the power output of your psu

I am not an electronics expert but I understand a bit. Is it true that this circuit just adjusts the base voltage to adjust the fan speed?

well the pot is adjusting between 3-4 volts into a transisters gate which induces a current to flow through it from the 12v to ground through the motor the higher the voltage on the transisters gate the higher the current

so basicaly you are controling the base voltage through the potential divider whitch acts on the gate
