display port issue

hi all
i need a little guidance
i get a no signal message when trying to use the DP on my gtx1070 the hdmi port works fine , i been round the other forums had a quick look at whats being said , but as a newbie i,m even more confused now than i was before .
anyone have a definitive fix for this issue or even any ideas

Easiest thing to try first is another cable as it may be dodgy

i did go and buy a new cable today just in case the one supplied with monitor was u/s sorry to say made no difference , also checked what settings i have on display they all look right , well too me anyway

Ok the quickest way to see what the issue now is if your M/B has DP port if it does then remove the card and use the onbard if you don't have a picture then in all likley hood it's your monitor, if it works then you know the problem is most likley to be the 1070

I have to ask the beginner question. Did you change the input on your monitor after changed cables?

thats ok im not worried with the beginers questions , yep i did change display setting on monitor ,, it reconising the display cable when i plug in but then comes straight up with no signal

Does HDMI work when using it from the 1070 and Monitor? Could just be a bad DP chip.

Didn't see it.

Should try the DP if you have one on the motherboard. Just remove the GPU and boot into the BIOS. If it works, you'll know it is definitely the GPU.

unfortunately my mother board has no stand alone display port , but i have done the following removed graphics card , installed supplementary power to MB for graphics cards , checked for latest drivers both nividia and asus and retry'd still no display port out put but as so as i hook up hdmi display comes on , i starting to think i should stuck to a more basic build rather than blowing all my hard earned beer token building this and a few i still need to pay for

i will list spec below of system i was waiting to post pictures as i was so happy with what i had achived for a newbie

corsair 780t' seasonic snow silent 1050 , asus rampage v ed 10 , ek-xlc predator 280 , intel 6850k , pioneer bdr-209, samsung m.2 961 512gig , wd black 4tb storage,corsair lpx/led 3000 32gb, asus gtx 1070 gaming (2) in sli with rog sli bridge ,betfenix 60cm rgb led strip corsair maglev 140 x 3 and corsair maglev 120 , al fans are white led
not forgetting the monitor asus mx25aq

You have two 1070s? Does the other one work? (only install one at a time when checking)

Which also leads to the question which card is the OP connecting the DP to

i did try with only one installed , then i swapped them round , dp is connected too top card same as the hdmi was , i am starting to think it maybe the monitor , or i have made a silly mistake
i will retry tomorrow when home

Pointing more towards your monitor having issues then. If you know anyone with a DP - HDMI or DVI adaptor (depending on your monitors inputs) you could use that to check whether a signal is being output from the DP on your cards. They're not the best solution but at least it would show that it's not your cards that are the culprit. Or you may have a mini display port on a laptop that you could try.

i would like to thank all of you that try'd too help with me with my problem i was almost going to chuck in the towel , but went and brought a 3rd DP cable this time from a different source , we are now all working , thanks again too those who offered advice
