Disapointed in my Epox mobo so far

Well after looking forward to getting my new mobo it seems that this mobo has not at all helped me oc any more than what i could have gotten on my K8V SE Deluxe of my GA K8NS mobo. For those wondering it was a 8NPA SLI mobo. Yes it looks nice and yes It has moved me to the new frontier of the wonderful world of pcie sli, but really, i coulda waited on this and really went for the DC I was talking about.

Now for anyone that has used this board or knows of it... Did I really hit the max on the 3700+ clawhammer i got here? 2.6? I mean come on...thats not that big of an oc.

I have also noticed that the bios really lacks vcore adjust ments.... many that go down but only a .25 and a .5 adjustment up? I havent looked much for the bios update as this just has gotten in my case, I hope that there is something else out there to provide more options for adjusting the vcore ( I think this is whats holding me back )

Anyways going to sleep on it...next to the comp for I love my 7600 GT and the mobo DOES look sweet under the UV lights... gonna go for a tan tonight LOL.. anyways... yeah.....

I'm not sure why you didn't get a nice dual core 939 system tbh?? :eh:

Money is the issue. The best thing i could have gotten in the near furture was a dual core Intel setup But even that would have taken a month or so more for a 805 setup

WaterTown1978, tried any software for raising vcore ?

for example clockgen for nforce4 can do that, let me know if you want me to send it over.

NOTE, its not the usual clockgen im talking about its a version for nforce4 specificly.

Not all hammers clock well, and yours is probably speed binned anyhow. I wouldn't be blaming it on the mobo

As far as vcore adjustments you will need to perform some volt mods to the board which I can help you with if you'd like. I've v modded a few EPoX's in my time :)

You also must remember that you're only aircooling your processor too. Upping your cooling to something better would also help greatly considering the s754 chippies usually produce more heat than the 939's.

LOL @Kemp. The green colour is off putting imho, but I guess if the thing helps achieve a massice OC, then I'd have a spew coloured one too rofl

Dual core is extremely expensive? :eh:

I'm getting quite annoyed with AMD, they should have a s939 Sempron DUAL CORE for us AMD users, to compete with the Intel Pentium D 805!!

yes It is, I only had around 300.00 funds and that took me close to 2 months just to save that. I was going to fo 805 but then with ram , mobo, video card, and cpu it was still out of my price range.

The idea of this was to get at least the video card out of the way, which was almost 180.00 itself.

Now I would love to stay with AMD cuz I have grown to love em, but the price of the DC is just nuts for a budget, and with the intel 805 being as cheap as they are, and they oc reallllllyyyyy well like on aiir even, I dont know it just made sense.

The temps foir me is 48c load for 8 hours now primed, so i got a bit of head room. Plus the AS really has not cured yet so it may drop a few more c in a day. I am going to play and maybe get a mobile in this beast ( its gotta work damn it! ) Busy weekend ahead.

I will look into the volt mod. This will be my first one.

and why does my video card not need a extra pin conection for the power? my 6600 and 6800 both needed extra power so why not these?

O and I like my 3dmark 2005 score of little over 6.2k with the cpu oced and nothing more...the days of 5k are over :)

That seems to be a difrent mob But i will try it.

UPDATE: This mobo does indeed not take mobiles. I did some more looking for a sckt 754 mobos that oc well w mobiles and i saw a person who did indeed have a 4000+ to 3.4 stable on a Biostar T-Force 6100. Thats cheap enough to try hey?

Yeah, those T-Force board's are great, I totally reccomend them :)

I thought with the onboard grafix... didnt that always hold back ocs? I coulda swore that is why i did not go with any mobos with onboard grafix chips

Biostar T-force 6100 is an AMAZING board. It rivals DFI in terms of overclockability. It will be WAY better than the Epox that you are using. Just make sure you have a small 40mm fan on the NB Hsf as it is passively cooled. The onboard video starts distorting in image if you are ocing the memory as well since it utilizes the onboard memory. It would be better to get rid of ur 3400+ and get a 3000+ Skt 754 Venice. They overclock way better than the clawhammers and run cooler. What hsf are u using ???

the almighty BT man so that is probually on of the best HS you can get for air cooling. I may get another sckt 754 cpu just cuz they are cheap enough still....what kind of ocs are the 3000+ venice getting?
