Hi guys a small question for views and ideas regarding Disabling the Hyper theading to gain performance in some programs.

I recently heard from a friend that turning the Hyperthreding off on my Intel i7 920 might help with game performance.

Any experiences in this would be great thx guys :)

It's not a case of gaining performance in games I don't think but more of getting them to run in the first place. Fallout 3 for example is not coded to see more than two cores, so running it with any more just makes it crash. Dirt is another classic case, HATED the I7.

Fallout 3 seems to behave very well on my quad with HT running. HT increases the heat, which means that you may get better overclocks with no HT. I run with it on, and on intelburn test in a hot room the chip still gets into the low 70s.

You'll gain some performance in some programs/games with disabling hyper threading. And it will also keep your processor cooler.
