disable auto downclock

Hi everyone,
long story short: I broke my video card.
Its an XFX 6950 and i played around with MSIAB and got it to 925 core and 1350 memory STABLE.
Then i pushed it on 950 on the core and it crahed. But it did not just crash and reboot i had to kill the power to get my pc back to work. If i do not have any game or Kombustor or anything running it clocks itself down to 250 mhz.
If it does the gpu gets freaking weird. It is pretty hard to describe. The screen keeps flashing and freezing and shit. Parts of the screen keep jerking around and serious shit is going on :D You get it right ?

This however only happens when it clocks itself down automaticly. I tried clean install and everything, still having issues on "idle" clock. It is somehow possible to stop my card clocking down ? I am fine if it runs at 925 all the time as long as it does not effect my gaming performance.

Any help is appreciated.
Regards Roooker

i had a strange bug on a 5770. not due to overclocking tho. at stock it ran fine, but if i overclocked it or underclocked it by as much as 1mhz it would auto downclock, screen goin tits up, have you tried it at completely stock settings?

Yes i did. Still only messed up if it runs on 250 mhz "ilde" clock.

I might try that. But i can not do this quote: "Go to Options/Profiles/Profiles Manager. Create a new profile. Under composition make sure “ATI Overdrive” is checked. Save and Close, DO NOT ACTIVATE." i can not find the options -> profiles tab

Since that is an old post, ccc layout must've changed since then. I'm using Nvidia myself.
Maybe an experienced ati user would shed some light on this?

I just started up my pc and till now it seems to be fine with defaults clocks (250mhz idle).
I have no idea why it was messed up yesterday. But i would still be able to adjust the idle clock if i get any crazy screen shakes.
