Dielectric Grease + Chilly Head

Hi,

I'm now the proud owner of a mach2 GT and i've one or two little question:

- Is it necessary to use dielectric grease on socket 775 motherboards with std head?

- Owners of an upgraded mach2 GT with chilly head, do you use dielectric grease or not?

I own both and I use dialetic grease on the rear of the mobo and in the socket just to be safe not loads of grease just enough to cover the pins etc

In theory, if you`re using the seal string, dielectric isnt necessary. I choose to use it coz i`m paranoid. Guess it depends how much faith ya have in your ability to install it/ read instructions and if ya trust the rear heater and the seal string.

Conformal and dielectric for the win! (until ya need to RMA)

I think i'll use conformal on the back off my motherboard and put some grease in my socket.

Some good recommendations on how to remove the grease after wards (in case i would change my mobo or cpu).

I use it like fatty,would rather have it than not.

toilet paper and Maplin PCB cleaner worked for me for removal

I scraped off the conformal with a model knife.

Edit: actually...also see my sig an the Quote from Mav Thats what we were discussing, its not as filthy as y`all might have thought

I use electrical contact cleaner the quick drying one with no residue

I find a very useful tool for removal is an old toothbrush, the soft bristles can really help to get the stuff out of the pin holes.
