Did Nvidia fix DLSS? DLSS 2.0 Analysis with MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries

Excellent article, Mark. Thanks for hanging in there !

Wow, they really have sorted it out. I guess the driver team are on lock down :D

Interesting Update. But what about the need for each title to include support (at some undefined cost) for this to work?

It seems to me, that these kinds of performance features that need both special hardware AND special software support ends up in a few handfuls of titles at best.

That pretty much sums up RTX right now. Anything that has RT will get DLSS to help it along. TBH it's the only way, given how harsh RT is on GPUs. But we can count that on one hand.

Nvidia has made DLSS easier to bring to games with DLSS 2.0, but it will require developers to support it. That said, if other games will work as well as MechWarrior 5 does, I can see a lot of devs jumping on board.

Nvidia was once limited by the need to have a game-specific algorithm, but that is no longer the case.

Perhaps in time we will see a DirectML alternative to DLSS, but that will take time. After that, this will become an "any GPU with DirectML support can do this" kinda deal. The industry needs to catch up to Nvidia's solution.

With Microsoft using DirectML on the Xbox Series X, you know that MS will be wanting some DLSS-like action for next-gen.
