DFI not so picky?

This is to prove that the SLI-DR isnt as picky with RAM as they might say.

2x1gig sticks of G.Skill Value RAM PC3200

2x512mb sticks of Hynix (or w/e its called) PC3200

I left my old 3000+ OC on, plugged the RAM in, and fired it up. To my amazement i came across this. :yumyum:

humm... well after deeling with a evga nf4 board i have to say that no board will ever seem like it is as picky with ram,

good find

Well the DFI's support a lot more RAM then they did when they came out. They just dont tend to like Kingston and certain types of Corsair

nice :)

Kinda funny though cause everywhere you go you hear somebody bad mouthing a DFI for not supporting alot of RAM.

Yep which is frigging stupid as most mobo's have a problem with some type of RAM at one time or other.

When DFIStreet used to exist almost every problem was somebody not reading enough about the boards...when they are enthusiast boards

You do know they are back right? Cept with a different name?

They now sound more like an internal decorators forum - diy-street isn't it?

Do the majority of newer boards perform ok->well with like 2x1g & 2x512m ?

Got this thing stuck in my head about, maybe older boards, resorting to slower data access if theres a mixed bag involved.

Not slower speeds in terms of clocks, but data accessing. Like 64bit instead of 128 etc.

Confuzzled.

ppl bad mouthing dfi boards is like ppl bad mouthing a lambourghini to be too fast and not being able to drive them. They simply are the best nf4 boards out there. The only reason people have problems with it is because they do not know how to set the ram options and trust me , most of the time you have to manually set them to get a stable setting. But once you do , no other board extracts as much bandwidth as dfi does.

DIY-Street is pretty much the same thing but because of DFI or somethin they had to change. They still have all their old threads there too and its all still the same people.

Well theres your proof that it dosent really matter dude. I did that test for you. 3gig of different ram even running in dual channel.
