Developer showcases an Ocarina of Time PC port that's "nearly fully playable"

Nintendo cease and desist incoming in 3...2...1...

Not much they can do. They can take down the videos, but if the port is released on Github without assets (like the Mario 64 ports), they can't do much to take them down.

The decompilation/recompilation of the game's code is legal, and anything build using that code can be made available legally like the Mario 64 ports.

While they cant stop the game via coding, surely there are legal grounds bsed on the names being copyrighted?

Zelda alone is trademarked after all

It is but they would have to prove this project confuses the general public about the trademark, and considering there are 0 assets in the repo, the notion people are confused is likely to be zero. The developer gains nothing and only presents raw code. Only people who are in the know would understand what it is and also would know the difference.

That's why these projects work.
