Deus Ex Mankind Divided DX 12 Performance Review

DX12 is like the Emperors new clothes, it is garbage but no one wants to say it.

No. People don't understand what it offers. It is not garbage. No game takes advantage of it completely, you can not factually call it garbage if no one uses it right. It's going to take time. People are impatient.

I

*that* is what we were promised with DX12. All we've got instead are games with training wheels attached to them whilst the so called experts learn how to balance. And these are supposed to be the professionals.

See also - Vulkan and the correct way to do it. I'm complaining because this supposed new gen of games that were going to perform much better than the old ones are actually worse than the old ones in pretty much every way.

We were promised nothing about performance in general. We were promised improved CPU efficiency. Doing more with what is available. Not improving what's already being done. Being an expert doesn't mean in one day they'll get everything absolutely right. And it's completely ignorant to say experts don't need time. If you followed that literally, we would have discovered time travel by now.

And again no. The "experts" have said, getting equal performance in 11/12 is actually CORRECT. That's because Nvidia has deficiencies in there hardware. So getting it equal means they did very well to get around that to keep performance equal, withthe added benefit of better CPU efficiency. AMD gets a boost because they perform Compute tasks much better, so you get a natural increase in performance. That is how it should be. A 5-10% increase is about right from Asynchronous Compute. No one ever claimed better GPU performance outright. Technology like Async is what improves it. We get that because this new API supports it opposed to the older one. All DX12 aims at is literally just the CPU. Making the connection between the CPU and GPU faster. Not directly improving its performance.

So if you are going to keep complaining, please just do it sensibly instead of spewing opinions

Show us someone using it right, until then it is bloatware and garbage.

Even animal waste has a good use to make things grow but until that happens we all know it as ****

You can twist anything to make it sound true and align with your opinion. But doesn't mean it is a fact or your opinion is true. If you read my post, you would know I already said no game currently uses it to its full potential. The ones that are, are under development, and we don't know about. Again, you further proved my point that people are impatient and results should be instantaneous. DX11 wasn't great at launch, but over time it and drivers grew leaps and bounds. Why can't DX12 have that same time for development? You think because it is newer it should work better? Look at many DX11 games out there now being released. Many of them have terrible performance, and this is an extremely mature API and has just as mature drivers. Yet the new DX12 is all of a sudden under scrutiny simply because it's "new"? No. That's not how development works. It's called "develop" for a reason. R&D takes time. Can't argue that, it's a fact, and SPS has said this before(I'm paraphrasing) in a different thread if you'd like to argue with him, I certainly don't! It's this R&D that allows Devs to get more efficient coding done with DX12. But again, takes time.

Now don't think I am blindly defending DX12. I'm not, I'd love just as virtually perfect performance and improved graphics as the next PC junkie. However that doesn't mean I understand what is actually going on and I'm not trashing it simply because it's new.

So no games using it well not even err Microsoft ones, you would think they would know how to use the API.

Show me some games that use DX12 well or it will be just bloatware on my PC.

Why do I bother. Did you even read the post I put up?
Or actually just don't reply. This won't go anywhere but in circles....
GG.

Just because Microsoft sell games doesnt mean those studios are the masters of the DX12 Api

Lionshead studios games were sold as Microsoft games, does that mean they should have instantly branded the company as true DX12 developers? Not really.

I can understand where you are coming from and I do agree DX12 is ****, but like NBD said, it will take quite some time. Personally I blame Microsoft pushing DX12 out just to entice users into using windows 10 or upgrading to their latest OS.
