my mate just phoned me up and she's gettin a cpu fan error and ramdon shut downs cause of overheating but me being me i usually refuse to touch dells as i despise them with such passion and along with all pre build cheapy machines

but what i was wondering was is the cpu fan a standard 80/92? fan or is it a stupid only able to get it from us dell oem fan?

in the bios look for hardware monitor,you should be able to disable the fan speed warning

as for shutdowns,maybe heat

its definitely heat thats makin it shut down but i really need to know if its just a simple 80/92mm fan swap or is it a crappy dell oem fan

well have a look at the fan shround,if it looks like one will wit it probly will

if it dont fit mod it,also

reboot>press F12>utilities partition>fan test

that should tell you if it is overheating,just to be on the safe side

i havent seen the machine yet to even look at it the girls workin mad long hours and cant be bothered and i said i would nose about and see what kinda fans it had so i could change them
