Dell / Alienware Aw2310

Morning all.

Being an avid 3D gamer, and a complete BFBC2 addict, I am finally thinking about getting myself a 3D capable monitor, but as I am something of a Dell fan (I have 5 of their screens and in my opinion they are great, if a little reflective in the case of the SP2309Ws) I am thinking about the AW2310 3D gaming screen.

However, I would appreciate any opinions you all may have on this screen, as information on the Dell site is a little lacking. For example it doesn't specify if it has a gloss or matt screen (please let it be matt!), and there's no mention of the pixel size (although dells are usually very good for this). Does anyone on here own an Aw2310, and if so what are your thoughts on it?

Tom, do you have any experience of these screens as well?

Oh, I'll also be running it on a KFA² 480 GTX Anarchy card, would that be 'man enough' for the job?

i dont personally own the monitor but i still wouldnt recommend it.from what iv're read it is less good than the acer gd 245 and costs twice as much. in the same price range acer has released a 27 inch monitor that comes with a pair of 3d glasses an an integrated 3d vision thingy, which means you could use it for 3d with a ps3 via hdmi.

I've just looked up the specs on that screen, and it has a dot pitch of 0.31mm!! I might as well try to play games on a Roman mosaic wall

. It's something that I really like about Dell screens, they tend to have the smallest pixels of any commercially available monitor, around 0.245mm which gives a very crisp image.

I'm fortunate enough to be in a position where cost isn't too much of a concern, so I'm OK with the extra cost of the Dell, as long as it beats cheaper options on quality and performance, and those are the details I'm trying to glean from the OC3D massive

lol tbh half a millimeter is not gonna make difference... and ofc dot pitch is bigger since it is a 27 inch at the same res... i will also add that the acer screen has led backlighting, which will give you more brightness in 3d vision(which you will need, believe me).

It must be my eyes then, but I can really notice the difference between a 0.24mm screen and a 0.30mm one. Before I bought my two SP2309W screens I originally bought two Novatech 19" screens (they were ridiculously cheap at the time), but the pixels at 0.30mm looked so chunky that I really didn't like using them. It's one adage that I do stick to, that bigger isn't always better. Sure you can get 32" screens that run at 1920x1080, but they'll look like they're using coarse sand to render the images, I'd sooner have a 23"-24" screen that runs at the same res, but with a much more precise image.

I'm a fussy git, I can't help it

You also have to realize you pay a hefty price OVER the quality of the monitor because of the alienware branding. i would guess around 20% more.

I decided to go for an Asus VG236H(E) myself. E doesn't have the 3D glasses, but that's because I'm buying them separately because it works out cheaper. It gets very good reviews, although there is a fixable green tint issue sometimes, just takes a little time.
