hi.

im in need of a good defragprogram preferbly a free one and its a + if it can relocate files of my choice to the end of the harddrive.

Well the one i'm about to mention isnt free but I can vouch for how good it is...

Diskeeper, check it out :)

i have diskeeper and yes its good but unfortunallty the program cannot move files to the end of the harddrive.

Does that offer much speed advantage then Raven?

I must admit, i've never once defragged my hard disks since moving to 2000/XP.

can take my 30gb harddrive, it reads 35mb/s in the beginning and only 17mb/s in the end.

when i had windows on it i had a defrag program which keept all mp3's avi's and other similar files in the end and keept windows and games in the beginning which improved speed.

my fairly new seagate starts out at almost 80mb/s and ends at roughly 35mb/s so moving around files can speed up quite much.

also defragprograms that can move files to the end tends to be able to move files to the beginning too and it can do wonders for the pagefile.

Looks like a great program. But we must keep in mind that the face off was done by the maker of Perfectdisk, which makes it completely biased and nothing to make your decision by.

Definately looks like a program I'd be willing to take for a test drive though, thanks for the linkage.

i have tried both - perfectdisk takes longer but boy is it worth it! i got a much bigger performance boost and i can do a boot defragment too! :D
