C chudley New member Mar 6, 2007 #6 WMP 10 or 11 whatever it is now will not play DVD on my machine so I am obviously short of the codec. Am just about to search for VLC now. Cheers guys

D dave87 New member Mar 6, 2007 #8 I think it does (need a codec installed). VLC seems to be the only self contained player. If you get WMP Classic with the K-Lite Codec Pack, then you get an MPEG2 decoder with it (albeit of questionable legality)
