DDCXPSC Res CRACKED!!

Hi all,

Here's the deal, I bought the XPSC res along with the DDC pump itself. The company i bought it from offer to build it for 99p, As I wanted to speed up the build as much as I could, i included this in the basket. BIG MISTAKE!

I installed it with no visible problems, it was running perfectly for about 2 weeks until i noticed a HUGE puddle of the distilled liquid on my desk! at closer inspection i noticed a hairline crack occurring at the base of the res.

To make this short and sweet, I have used some fuse tape to temporally slow the leak down. My attempt seems tobe failing as the crack is increasing in size and i am running out of distilled water. I have ordered a new res and coolant and expect it tomorrow.

I would like to know if i am entitled to a refund from the company i bought the res from if i send it back.

Hope to hear from someone, Thanks all!

Id contact them and see what they say, technically it could be argued that you did it so its really down to the company involved

Woah that really sucks!

If the company is any good they will give you a refund, I mean.. it's pretty obvious that you didn't break it cuz stuff like this can kill a computer fairly easily :(

I would obviously stress to the company that the Res-top came pre-assembled and you would have no reason to remove / refit the top in the time you have had it. I would be very suprised if they argued with you, as a crack like that would normally occur during fitting....

(unless, the crack occurred near the barb or fitting at the base? If so, did you fit it yourself? May be on a sticky wicket there.)

Get intouch with them nevertheless and see what that say.

What biscuitboy said - hard lines about the res man, hope this gets resolved for you soon!

First and foremost, Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions.

Second of all, I just bought another another res and tbh, i don't think i will be returning it as i cba with all the trouble of convincing them it was not my fault, and also the fact that i will most likely receive a replacement that i have no need for now.

I also think the res was a second hand one anyway as the top of the res was cracked amongst other areas and i did not recive the full contents expected from a new purchase. I can definitely say this matter has taunted my respect and loyalty for the company and it is unlikely i will ever be shopping with them again.

Sometimes they will crack if you screw them in too hard.

That's the thing though, i didn't over screw it. n plus it was cracked in areas where over tightening wouldn't of affected it.

Did you contact XPSC for a replacment?

I have my fingers crossed on the Dual DDC bay res units I just put together that are going in my build that I am just starting. Since I have 2 of the dual bay units with 4 pumps total my odds of having one crack is much higher so I just hope I am lucky and everything goes well.
