DayZ getting a DirectX 11 version, offering huge performance gains over the current DirectX 9 version of the game in demanding areas. Who wants a 10-20 FPS boost?

What the video didn't mention is the PC's specs that was used for the demonstration. From what I could gather on the DayZ subreddit which was later confirmed by Brian Hicks on Twitter, the specs are an Intel i7 3770 and a nVidia GTX 760 video card.

So keeping in mind that the current graphics engine used with the game which originates way back from DX7, won't necessarily give you better performance with a GTX 980 over a GTX 760, this will be very interesting to see the end result of. A GTX 970/980/Ti or similar card should give a massive FPS boost.

As somebody who has been playing this game for over 600 hours i would like to say this patch is going to be horrible.
They have got these performance games from doing Koei done on PS2 games, Adding a ton of fog.
look at the draw distances between the 2 "renerers", in the current game you can see players moving over 1km away. the new renderer you can barely see half of that.
I am all for moving from DX9 to 11 but i think that this is going to change the game dramatically :(

it'll probably still be as bad to run server side as DayZ mod was. Unless they've added the improvements with the AI they made in 3.
