D5 speed with Phobya 1080?

In the system in picture below (click for larger), I'm Running a Laing D5 with EK top on speed level 1.
It's 2x 360 Magicool extreme, 2x 7950 EK FC fullcover, some tubing and so on.

If I replace the 2 360radiators with a Phobya 1080 would I still be able to run the pump at level 1?

I would say yes as the Phobya 1080 isn't very restrictive. I have one myself.

Nice, I was not able to find any data on restrivtivity and pressure drop on the Phobya 1080.

Really don't want to end up buying the 1080 and finding out my pump can't handle the pump at low speeds :)

Not gonna lie when I saw that rig I was a little sick in my mouth...

Really?, me maxing out BF3 with 120fps+ makes my mouth good :D
I don't really know what there is to do to improve tubing and cables but I'm open for suggestions.....

Are you serious?! Sorry but this rig lokks like a complete mess to me and what's the point in having a loop and then an aircooler on the cpu?

1 will be fine for 1080 + 2 blocks

But I have no idea whats going on with the tubing by your cards and how that might affect flow..

Well I'm running the pump at level 1, are you sure it will run through that 1080?
I would be very sad if I spent all that money on a 1080 and then not be able to run it :D

thank you very much the Cpu is i5-2500k overclocked to 4.4ghz the fans are quiet and temps are very good.

Why do you watercool youre Cpu?

I have a d5 and the 1260 version of that rad and it runs fine on 1. I do only have one block though atm because I am still waiting for my gpu blocks.

With this 1080 rad though, you could get the matching stand, mouth the d5 with a res on it and shove it all under the desk.

Mine is under my desk now and I can't hear the pump on 5.

Btw if you're cooling a single system it'd be much better imo to buy a good case and just have the rads inside it. I have mine external because it will be cooling my main rig + a folding rig eventually..

The pump will be fine with the 1080. Rads really aren't restrictive at all, in fact they are the least restrictive component in the loop.

That is one crazy rig you have going there! A rad hanging off the back! Doesn't look like you have the internal rad lined up with fans either? Could do with a little work to sort it all out but I'd recommend a different case and re-use those rads you have got.

Maybe my pump is defective(?)
I can't hear it on level 1(have to put finger on it to feel).
But at Level 5 it's clearly more audible than my 250rpm fans.

There is 2 fans blowing in air on the front rad, just can't see on the pictures.
I did have a Haf 932 with 2 360 internal radiators, however my current case is a Noise dampened Fractal R2, I did not like the Haf because it has no noise isolation whatsoever.

I have a question, can the pump take damage from running at Level 1, if it's just barely making the water move around?

It will make a lot of noise if there's air trapped in the loop.

at setting 5 mine makes a high-pitched whirring sound, but I can't hear it unless I put my head under the desk.

Yeah mine makes insane amount of noise if there is air pocket in the pump.
I do have 8cm air pocket in the external radiator, not sure if that makes the pump noisy.

Generally I've found that running pumps at about 50% gets the best out of it. If you run it low then I think they sound louder just like a car which is struggling to build torque at low revs.

Well, Im not watercool expert, not at all, actually I dont even own 1 yet, although Im getting money for it. But I think from what I see around the biggest problem in that loop is the multiple Y intersections. If you are just cooling the 2 graphic cards, I dont understand why not just do a normal "circular loop", where you go from GPU1 to GPU2, Rad, Rad, Res and pump.

I dont see no need for all that mess.

Oh and go buy a couple meters of SpiroBand for those fans cabbles, you will see how awesome it is and how clean it gets.

Indeed you don't need to go with such crazy Y fittings. The truth is that once the rig has been on a few minutes the water is all the same temperature within about 1c anyway. Using a Y splitter to try and get equally cooled water in to both GPU's instead of dumping slightly warmer water from GPU1 in to GPU2 is actually worse because in this setup you are halving the amount of flow and in water cooling higher flow results in better temperatures and it is also what the blocks are all designed for, high flow.

The water doesnt get hot as people think. It doesnt go from 20 or 30ºC in the first GPU and get out at 70. The diference of both GPUs in water tempeture input is so minimal that yeah, Max you get 1ºC increse on the second GPU in exchange for better flow.
