Curious: 3770k rig died 4820K replacement, Any better?

Okay as ZEEEEEEEE title states, My poor 3770k rig died a little ago and thus i have decided that i would get a 4820k as a replacement.

"Buuuuuuut ellie you could have just gotten a 4770k or a 8350"
*Puts fish on your precious head and runs finger down your mouth* shhhhhh
"Ellie....why"

1 I like thinking of my PC's as sorta Creatures in a way, Using zee imagination woowowoooo *wiggles her sparkly claws* and I find a bit more personality in 4820k than 4770k for some reason.

I can see 4820k and My Z11 case and it being like a bat creature @u@

2 LGA2011

3 I Heard it's better cooled, So if i add a swanky spanky cooler .u. I guess it'll be cooler.

*puts shades on it*

anyhow, back to the point

Will my 4820k be better than my late 3770K?

Erh yeah, that's barely a performance upgrade, especially for the amount of money you'd be spending on it as you'll also need a new motherboard.

Same story for the 4770k though, so you'll probably be best (cheapest) off getting another 3770k.

Neither of the afore mentioned CPUs, not the 2011 Socket will offer you any benefit for a gaming rig. Even for rendering the 4820k+2011 will only give you an advantage of <5% over your i7 3770k.

I got the motherboard for it :], X79 UD3 from Gigabyte >:3, So mobo isn't the issue anymore, EVARRRRRRRRR >8D haauhauahau

ANYHOWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Well if you guys wanna know? This isn't just a gaming rig :], Ellie may be a giant derp but she'd have gone for a 3570k or 8320 for gaming purposes :].

I'd be using it for, Illustrator,Photoshop,Flash,SAI,Blender,Gaming,Streaming (Art And Game Streaming), Video Editing And general Internetting, and Being a Derp, And Possibly Sound/Music Production :3.

4820K replacing my 3770K seems a like for like, so thats good :].

Ellie this has to be the most surreal thread I've ever entered.... *backs away slowly. So as Barnsley said how did you kill your 3770K??

lemme edit :O:

Okay my 3770K wise, It's Acting extremely Laggy and Slow, I've ran a virus scan on it to rule out malware, Nothing, Took it to a PC store to have it looked at, Said it was a odd case, Put a new cooler on it cause it was overheating (Stock cooler), Still is Overheating and Lagging (Firefox takes 40% CPU) so never mind all the tasks up there, friend mentioned it could just be a sillicon failure, or as i suspected the CPU was failing.

And if a PC store can't do anything, I can't, so i'll just cut my Losses, Plus i really have heart and all that set on the 4820k :3.

*Puts cucumber on all of you people's heads* :D

I'd whip that bad boy out and give it the beans, full personal clean, repaste and re-seat.. I don't trust most stores with their "Specialists" I'd sooner do it myself, rather than let some stranger play with my hardware

So is Eist turned on in the Bios? One of the top dirty tricks of some PC stores is to bork your hardware so you return with moar money..

I own a 3820 And its always ovc at 4.5 easy with no heat issues,I do have plenty of fans thou And temps are always monitored, it will ovc higher. running now 2 years at 4.5 and the 4820 is just a baby step ahead of 3820 not worth an upgrade yet. I am totally happy with my build. It was a bit pricey I would say there all so close so go with the cheapest if money is an issue, you wont not much difference if any.

I rememeber i turned off Intel speed step .o. a bit ago cause it was being a little wonky, though one odd thing i found is

with it off it should be running at 3.5ghz? I remember in the final 2 days with nothing done to the core voltages and all it was running at 3.7 (all settings on Auto) but i didn't think much of it .o. plus the temps and performance as pretty much normal.

Just decided to become weird on one paticular day with nothing done to it, SSD emptied itself too.

sorry just realised i misread it, Imma see if it is or not, But frankly i noticed in Core Temp it's stuck at it's usual 3.7GHZ when i turned it back on

We'll need a full spec list of your pc as well. Did you make it yourself?

You'd be surprised how knowledgeable people are here.

Sure :]

Mobo
Z68 AP-D3 by GIGABYTE

32GB DDR3 RAM - Hynix (Hypertec but i read it's just a rebrand)

CX750M - Corsair

SSD - Crucial M4
HDD - Seagate barracuda 1TB

Graphics
HD 7950 - AMD and Sapphire
any more?

Start with resetting your bios to fail safe deafult

Also check maybe your mobo is giving too much voltage to the cores or the memory controller

if the temperature problem still exists, you may want to try and delid it

have you tried using a different OS install?

What Rambo said. I'd also like to ask how you put the thermal paste on and what cpu cooler did you use to replace the stock cooler?

Also, you said your ssd just broke one day right? Does it still work?

I put it on the pea method way and spread it out 'w', And SSD decided to empty itself for some reason

and it was replaced by a 212 evo
