CSS tournament/comp ?

Wouldn`t interest myself as I haven`t played this sorta game for years, players unrealisticly jumping all over the place was kinda annoying - it`s moved on alot since I suspect.

But seeing as there is a clan base here, I`m wondering if u`ve ever considered opening a tourn to clan and outside players to 1 v 1, with like a top 5/10 prize base ? And possibly a runner-up death match.

It`d probably take a bit of construction to put all the structure into place, perhaps have a alpha/beta tourn to check it out for a while, the when u`r totally satisfied with it, open the floodgates.

Maybe qualifiers would have to eventually, register on the forum and register for the comp - IP checking for duplicate entries.

Qualifying seedings based on; past comp results; forum registration date; forum reps; other stuff...

I reckon moderators should be ok to enter this.

Perhaps worth a shot ? I happen to know some1 has a domain that they`re looking for something to do with *cough* Frag *cough* that could link to stats or whatever. Maybe as a front-end, the domain sounds topical ;)

Is there an echo on this forum or something?

What about OC3D CS:S gaming ladder or similar  :)

Would deffinately bring more people to the site (& the servers). Esp if people think they can win a gfx card etc. Altho you'd need some admins and a lot of organisation.

I agree a little with the best case thing that maybe people who have a brilliant case might be rich, but some people spend loads on their PC's without being rich.

I know some people upgrade once every 2or3 years (my last system was over 3years old)

It's a great thought, but only UK/US folks need apply. My ping to US can be as low as 150-170, but UK is a constant 320+ and as a result makes me completely uncompetitive. It'd be cool to have though

right...

in my opinion it would be faesible to run a 1v1 cs:s comp and get some big names involved if it involved some big prizes.

firstly, if people in the gaming community hear about this, then nobody on this forum will win. the best player on these forums is mark (phunky) and nobody else comes close to his standard.

secondly as mentioned it takes a LOT of organisation, unfortunately even as clan leader i cant take this job on. atm even running the clan is too much for me while i have exams on soon. aswell as whoever runs the tourny, xms will have to do alot of work...

thirdly, we will have to restrict to UK only and considering our international user base is a bit unfair.

ill think of more reasons why this is a problem when im less drunk, but atm its going to be hard

Yeah pretty legitimate reasonage. Tis a damn shame tho.

UK/US -> AUS still ping around 320 ?? ouch.

I can remember 320 pings inside the UK >.< games seemed pretty playable tho, then thats not by todays standards, games have moved on in terms of their own demands.

Maybe a long shot, but can u handicap latency in games yet ? (I haven`t hosted a server since 2002)

I agree with the 1v1 thing not being feasible.

Does 1v1 even work very well on cs:s  no pickups, (weapons, armour, health) lots of camping, etc etc.

I was thinking more of a clan based ladder.

There are certain ladders with the same idea and I'm sure they have got massive publicity and sales from it already.

eq u said 1v1 WOULD be faesible :)

1v1 tournaments are played on small maps with no bomb/hostages and it is just about aim. saim sort of thing with awp cups.

i think a clan based ladder wouldnrt be active enough. leagues like enemydown, clanbase and sgl have a monopoly over the market, as most are very good. this would also take more organising than you think.

a small css tournament could work, if we can get the teams to play in it. similar to the LOG cup we are playing in, i reckon a similar thing could work well, especially if there are prizes involved

I didn't mention 1v1

I just said a ladder.

That would mean the ladder would be smaller and easier to manage aswell as giving people more chance

I remember running a ladder for quake3 & helping with duke nukem & C+C on Wireplay ladders. So I know how much organisation is involved, I said above it would take a lot of organisation.

I was thinking it would pos be a small ladder.

Maybe there could be team OC3D, team SpecialTech, team WatercoolingUK & team Tekheads? :)

less teams = less matches, who wants to join a small ladder when there are big ladders?

is this a ladder or a cup? make your mind up!

and surely thats a bit unfair since team OC3D is an established clan?

people who want to win prizes.

Not sure what you mean here?

What is a cup system? and how does it differ to a ladder/league?

you keep referring to a ladder, then in the last post you suggested a small cup. you realise that these are different things right?

Soz I used the wrong terminology or whatever.

I took it from when u said about the LOG cup

I still don't know what the difference between a cup and a ladder/league is tho

You win a cup at the end

you cant stop people from entering twice by ip because allot of people dont have static ips it would be best to do it by steam id as each accound has a unique id

Lies! Lies! Lies! I r Bad!

But i think a little fun cup would be a kewl idea, something silly like last man standing on a deathmatch game?
