Yeah what was wrong.
OK it had a cheesy over-the-top story but that was the whole point
The game was awesome apart from that with balanced weapons, grat enemies, excellent AI and stunning graphics
Oh yeah: the Multi-player was a bit naff tho

can only agree Kempez.
the game worked great even with my old amd32 2400+ and onboard gf4mx.
the 9800pro i had managed very high graphics setting 1024x768
what i liked most was the ability to chose which way to go on many maps, through the enemy around the enemy or take them out one by one.

I got it free with my 5700LE back in the day. Ill quite happily say that the first few levels were very good indeed and graphicly it was a charm. But i found it more and more of the same thing as the game progressed. Normaly more of the same games (doom3 for example) managed to keep me going through clever twists and what are basicly gimmics (or in the case of doom 3 the lure of a BFG). As you say the story was off it, wich put me off more as i like good stories (who dosn't).
To make things worse they had those fugly monkey things. They were too numerous, refused to die and rediculously damageing to you. I found myself playing numerous sections of the game 5 times over becase of them, wich i NO fun if your trying to progress wit the story.
That was just my opinion of it.

actually i found doom3 to be more boring and repetitive. I have played far cry three times from start till the end now and i must say , each time i notice something different or new about the game. The graphics , the environment , the gameplay are rather exciting. Agreed HL2 has a much more interactive environment but Far Cry has more stuff in its environment that you can actually use and not knock over.
Cruising through the river , fighting other gun rigged boats , trying to knock down snipers and rocket launchers was hella fun , as was using a handglider to go from one mountain to the other.
As for the fugly monkey primate mutants , they are rather easy , shoot them before they get close to you coz they make a leap at u when they are close enough. The dumbheaded rocketlauncher rigged mutants are more harder to kill but they are stupid and if u hide from them , they will just come and stand next to you.
