Crysis 2

Been playing Crysis 2 for about a week now and i have to say i like it, but i am extremely disappointed at the same time. I have played thorough the game twice now and i am impressed with the quality of the game, the graphics are amazing but there no Crysis 1 quality. I have been comparing the two games and you can just see that Crytek have made this game for the Xbox and ported it over to the PC and PS3. The textures in this game are no where near the resolution that they were in Crysis taking something away from the WOW factor that Crysis should carry. Crytek also neglected to add any physics to Crysis 2 making the the game stiff and less fluid.

Don't get me started on the lack of DX11 or x64, i mean WTF when the first game was lunched it had the best technology built in to it with this game we have gone backwards, i don't understand what Crytek are doing and i don't like it as i expect more.

Wait that's not the end, the most fu**ed up thing with this game is the story. Dont get me wrong its a very god story but it has f**k all to do with the first one. I was expecting to find out what happened at the end of the first game but all you get is little flashbacks of Prophet memory's, there is absolutely no mention about what happened to Nomad or Psycho or what even happened to the island after they nuked it.

There the bad thing but there are may good things in this game. The lighting IMO is much better than it was i Crysis giving it a almost realistic look in some Area (especial on the night levels)

The action is much better than in the first game as well. Crytek did a very good job with the way action playes out and it make for a more action packed game.

All in all i am a bit miffed with this game i was expecting a masterpiece like Crysis one was and still is. All i can say is that Crytek has sold us PC gamers out and we will never see a game like Crysis 1 off them again as there tongue is to far up Xbox's a**

Not a fan of the game realy, played a bit of the story and about 60-90 mins of multiplayer on both pc and 360 and i think ill give it a miss untill it drops in price a bit (probably a sale on steam) and i get my new build finished, enjoying homefront ALOT more than the bits of crysis 2 that i played, the multi is a bit too hit and miss with people crouchwalking/sat in corners then when they hear/see you they cloak up then hit armour when your close up and lay into you with what ever they have and the single player isnt as free roam destruction that i enjoyed on crysis 1 from what i played but that might have just been the sections i played.

Id probably give it something like a 3 1/5-10

(Oh and p.s. its as much the playstations fault as xbox's for what ever faults people find with the game looks/quality wise, side by side on matching screens ps3/360 and there is more or less no difference from what my eyes can tell.)

Hi. They are /should be patching it for many improvements. I think Crysis 1 got patched with Enthusiast graphics mode later after release. Crtek showed a Crysis 1 environment on PS3 using Cryengine 3 and in ways it was better, and lacked the detail on the mountains in the distance, lower resolution too probably. I think DX D9 must be slow at rendering nice textures so they've made that lower quality, most textures are OK from a few steps away, the bad textures I've seen appear rarely. If we had to wait for DX 11 to play it either console players would not have the game or no-one would have it today. Because Crytek didn't give PC gamers the BETA testing we're doing that sort of thing now, so it'd be safe to call this a BETA I think, we can. It is excellent and I know it's going to get alot of attention from me. It lacks config options, sound, key customisation, second key option and graphics. Forums PC gamers have posted the problems so I hope Crytek take the advice and use it for this game. Graphics are excellent. It is an excellent effort. All games have problems on release so patience is needed and that point should be catered for by EA with emails etc, but they haven't. The graphics engine is a monster in a bag atm i think, it does cater for PC standards very well so we'll wait to see. It is the fastest and fully-real time rendering engine today. I saw a physics demo and thay can break trees like in Crysis 1, maby it's got more potential and because thay wanted all platforms to have the same game 'feel' they made Crysis 2 physics the same for all, they said that over 1 year ago. Some problems with AI. The suit voice like it echoes in tunnels on MP, Nano Vision is too loud and we don't have a sound volume option just for that. Otherwise I like it alot, animation is excellent, gameplay is good and I'm cherish its look, bloody good job realy

£30 anyone?

I've only played a little of the leaked version and I've played the demo for an hour or two and I'm really disappointed. It's just bad... Crysis was great fun. You could do so much. You could try and sneak your way through levels. You could go spray 'n pray. You could just mess around. There were so many things to do. Crysis 2 feels way too scripted and is straight out boring IMO. Crytek, which I expected, joined in on the butt f'*king as so many other companies have done. I think we can all just forget about another good Crysis game. Only company that have managed to have a balance between PC gaming and console gaming is Valve. Other companies should learn from them.

I just want more. I'm not happy with Crysis 2 at all. See, you people might think that I'm just complaining on "small stuff" since you might think Crysis 2 is a good game. Look at it this way, what if Lamborghini made a car like the Toyota Prius? What then? The Prius is a great car for many, but not what Lamborghini does. See what I mean? I rest my case.

Am not saying the game looks bad at all, they have done a good job getting it to look that good on all platforms. But the more i play it the more i get confused about the story. I would have like a sequel to Crysis 1 not a completely different story line. I don't know where Crytek are going with the story but not to even mention the first game's main character is bizarre to me. It's like they have started all over again with the story and that's gay because i like the first story.

Just want to pull you up on a few points you made:

the bad textures I've seen appear rarely

really?are you playing this game with your eyes shut?I can show you a whole host of pics of the bad textures in this game if you want.

If we had to wait for DX 11 to play it either console players would not have the game or no-one would have it today

Well of course console players would not have this game in DX11 as they cant do it.Hell the PS3 is not even using DX)and why would the PC gamer not have it?this game was already pushed back from NOVEMBER last year,so what the hell were they doing all those months?

It lacks config options, sound, key customisation, second key option and graphics

And this is even more proof that Crytek have just got lazy, how hard is it to have these things in game?its not like this is groundbreaking stuff, its been in every PC game for years.

All games have problems on release

I am going to say that you are of a younger gen than me then,as I remember when games that were released HAD to work out of the box, patching was a rare thing back in the day when everyone was on dial up.Why is it that these days all games need patches to work?Do they even do QA anymore?

Not having a go at you personally, but these are some rather lame things you have mentioned.I can give you more if you want

this is my 1st proper PC game for me (I am/was a xbox 360 guy).

As a console gamer coming across to pc gaming, the game feels quite natural for me, which i think shows that this game is more a port from console to PC rather than the other way round and i think thats why you "proper" PC Gamers" are feeling you aint getting the game you was hoping for.

Even i was suprised that the Graphics have no setting for AA/AF and i can certainly see why you guys feel that Crytek have made Crysis2 for the console then just given us (PC gamers) a bit extra, rather than make a "full fat" version the game for the PC then dumbed down and ported it to the consoles

Thanks for all the posts people. You just saved me £30! Two of my friends bought it, one on PC and one on PS3 and they both say it's pretty good, but I have yet to hear anything like the mouth watering descriptions that came from the first Crysis.

Consoles are ruining everything for PC gamers at the moment, but when a game comes out solely for the PC and everyone is in awe of the graphics, nothing more is done about it. The PC platform can be pushed hard all the time, whereas the consoles quickly reach a plateau of performance and they stay there for years because the companies don't want to bring out new ones.

As a PC gamer, this pisses me off no end.

Thing that would explain it the most is the EA emblem at the beginning.

There are masses of games over the years that were great until the devs worked, under direction maybe ??, from EA. Release times, preferred markets. Almost like the hardcore game coder selling out.

I played this last night for an hour or so. Yeah it's nice, nothing special I've seen to that point tho. At that point it crashed and I went to bed
tongue.gif
(crash coulda been my fault, not the games, I don't know yet)

I did think the beta was overly using an E8400, being at 100% nearly all the time, but this game runs a quad around the same relatively.

Hi nepas.

I read your views, I am considering todays technology, this isn't PACMAN
tongue.gif
Textures are good if your not licking the wall, you know? playing the game I don't see many uglt textures, I am admiring more. I wrote 'If we had to wait for DX 11 to play it either console players would not have the game' and thats because DX 11 isn't here yet, simple. So it's like a BETA kinda thing. I don't think technology gets simpler because that'd be wrong, it will need patching for years. Lame is an insult **** ****

Its a good game with decent graphics, but i'm not a big fan of how the story is set out tbh:

"go here, do that"

-arrives and does task-

"oh noes, it went pete tong. go here and do this instead"

"now kill the main bad guy"

.......long cutscene that wraps things up.......

"bet you thought it was the end of the game? not yet, go here and do this"

-facepalm-

That's pretty much the same for every game since Res evil 4 tbh Ian, at least it has a good sp. I hear loads of people saying crysis 2 is shit compared to homefront and I flew thru the sp of that in about 2 hours at a mates last night yet I don't see many people complaining about it.

Probably because they weren't stupid enough to buy it

overall it took me 7 1/2 hours to complete crysis 2 SP and i wasnt messing around or anything, the best you get out of alot of games nowadays is 6-12 hour SP campaign and then its MP that keeps the hype going until the next game comes out.

was I impressed by the story, unfortunately not. was I impressed by the graphics, yes - but not as much as i hoped i would be. Multiplayer is decent and ive just sent 2 of my mates copies via steam so we'll be giving it a full test soon enough

does anybody else think they have used the cryengine 2 for the fmv in the cut scenes?

i think its funny they used an older version for the eye candy bits in this xD
