Cryptocurrency miners are now bulk buying gaming laptops to mine Ethereum

How i wish Cryptocurrency would be banned everywhere, this is just... awful.

I think that without mining crypto can be fine. I checked just now, and looks like proof-of-stake is already up for Ethereum. Hopefully mining will be stopped soon enough. Proof-of-work is a terrible way of doing things.

Crypto is the future. Read the white papers from the G20 submit and you'll see the USA had approved the use of XRP for World money transfers. The demand for Crypto is increasing therefore its price is rocketing.

Crypto value is totally speculative. I'm sure that like the last time it's being driven by a few users. It's like saying that Gamestop is valuable.

Crypto mining is the past. It's not sustainable, and it should die. I'm sure some of it will survive just because "free money", but it's a terrible way to do things.

As for crypto being the future, I don't know. If it ever become stable, then perhaps. I don't see it happening yet. The actual value of crypto is really low.

the value is, as with every fiat money, based on what people think it is worth.

long gone are the days when currency was backed by gold or other material values.
not even the GDP is today a measure for currency value.

it is basically as artifical as crypto currencys.
but governments have more power to influence markets.

True. But for now, it's first of all not money, but a commodity. The value of this commodity isn't really controlled by "people", in general, no more than the value of the Gamestop stock is controlled by "people". It's controlled by some people who have a lot less interest in "people" than governments in general (and that includes the worst governments around).

So while crypto in general is something that's usable, in practice it's a long way from replacing currency.
