I feel like Cryengine is making great progress compared to UE4 in regards to API changes. It's pretty impressive tbh considering they are not nearly as popular. I don't know about VR side of things, but i'm sure they are doing fine.
I think games like Star Citizen and Kingdom Deliverence are going to be benefiting a lot from DX12/Vulkan if they planned on using it considering the scope of there games.

I don't like Cryengine at all. It doesn't perform that well and the input is probably the worst of all engines available today. It's great for cutscenes and screenshots and that's about it. Don't get me wrong, UE4 doesn't exactly shine in the input department either, but it's still miles better than cryengine.
No clue why Star Citizen and Kingdom Come Deliverance chose Cryengine, both games are played in first person and hence suffer massively from the horrendous input lag.
I hope DX12/Vulcan will allow them to run things a bit smoother, i own both of those games and i'm not too keen on playing them with how they currently feel.

Both SC and KD severely need better performance, I managed to play both alphas a few weeks ago and even on a decent rig the performance was horrendous, Yes they are alphas but still every little bit performance tweak is needed in both games.

I guess terrible performance is expected when you know.. SC has no end to viewing distance or clipping. It's basically infinite, whole universe is being rendered(i'm exaggerting here a little bit). Think they should fix that. You'd think with that never ending budget they have, the "genius" engine team they always talk about would get on it

My only problem with ED, well any Space game like this, is that they get boring to quick. I'll have tons of fun for like 2-4 hours by myself, but then I get bored because it gets repetitive and no one around me except NPCs. Then I can't bring myself to play it for months. Then I do another day and cycle repeats or me. Although I do feel like playing it atm...
