Crossfire system

just an question looking at crossfire I have a p8cws mobo and im wanting to run 2 r9 280x vapor x it say's to refer to the manual and use the 2 x8 pcie x slots for 2 but there is no way im going to fit 2 cards in those slots can I use one in a x 16 and one in a x4 slot ?

Yes just put one in the top 16 and one in the next 8 and you will be fine so they should fit in the blue and then grey slots as the next slot down won't reach with the cross fire bridge, you may be better off buying a 290 now and getting a second one later as they don't need a bridge so you can sit them further apart

That's the problem though I have a blue slot witch is x16 then a black slot witch is x16 or dual 8/8 and then grey slots witch are x4 so im kind of stuck because I cannot put the car in the other x8 slot lol

Yes you can use the x4 slot, but performance will be degraded though, and you will have to somehow find a xfire bridge cable long enough to reach also.

see that's what I cant find reviews about of how much it will decrese by unless I was just to buy another new board and sell this one on e bay

looking at the motherboard and gfx card (have only just looked for pics n specs on them), 2 of them should really fit in the top 2 slots, unless you have got a tripple slot card.

You haven't said what make your gfx card is, so can't really look at it and make a better suggestions than what already have.

Also plugging the gfx card into the 4x slot, might make them both run at 4x speed, just so as you are aware of all the possibilities here.
