Just got my new pc up and running and i should have 4Gb of Corsair Dominator TwinX DDR2 PC2-8500 (1066), CAS 5-5-5-15, EPP, DHX. But when i run cpu-z it's showing my memory as being ..........

Memory Type DDR2

Memory Size 4096 MBytes

Memory Frequency 488.0 MHz (3:4)

CAS# Latency (tCL) 5.0 clocks

RAS# to CAS# (tRCD) 5 clocks

RAS# Precharge (tRP) 5 clocks

Cycle Time (tRAS) 15 clocks

Command Rate (CR) 2T

now i had a look online and it seems a few folk are in the same position as me. Is cpu-z wrong or do i have the wrong memory???

Cheers

Mike

Double Data Rate RAM runs two cycles.

Therefore;

800MHz RAM is shown as 400MHz, 800MHz effective.

1066MHz RAM is shown as 488MHz, 1066 effective, and so on.

Why is this URGENT as you put it, Im sorry to dig, but your pc is working fine, the worlds not going to end or anything.

What you need to do is change the speed in your bios to the rated speed and put the voltage upto the manufacturers spec..

so it's ok? Phew cheers

It's urgent to me as it's cost me a fortune and i've not had a pc for 3 weeks because the 1st pc i specced from ocuk had cheap parts in it when it arrived instead of what i ordered. So maybe i'm a bit paranoid.

Hmmm. SDR, DDR, DDR2, DDR3 ....
