I just got my new system build and put together, or actually i did that monday ;D but i just installed cpu-z. but i am not able to see the brand ID or core voltage of my processor.

is it my pc or is it cpu-z that does not support it.

Cpu-z version 1.56

System in Signature

apperently launching HWmonitor before launching cpu-z end in the error you see on the last photo, but no problem launcing HWmonitor after cpu-z.

As you can see voltage is just toned down.

EDIT: sorry for the big pics, and the late response, had an appointment earlier.

did you buy this new?

that last screenshot looks like it was an ES lol

also have you tried turning hyper threading on to see if it helps?

also try re-downloading and reinstalling both programs?

Yes it was bought new.

I have tried re-downloading it and removing them and then re-installing the, but it doesn't seem to work.

gonna try to enable HT again.

I know that some of the older X58 boards don't support Gulftown CPUs without a bios flash.

For example my Bloodrage doesn't. The RIIIE is not one of the latest boards IIRC and whilst your CPU will fire and work not all of the cores will be seen ETC.

If you haven't already - flash the latest bios on there. The temp probes could be out of action due to CPU support not being fully implemented. Good news is if you do need to flash the bios then it should be nice an easy on account of it being an Asus. Simply get the bios, unrar/zip it, dump it on a memory stick and look for EZflash in your bios. It'll take you to an old skool screen where you simply browse for the bios and begin the process. From there it holds your hand, rewrites the rom, verifies it and then runs a checksum before letting you reboot to make sure everything is where it should be.

Quick check reveals -

Rampage III Extreme 1102 BIOS - 2010/11/09 update (9th Nov, backward American dates FTL)

Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

And then when following that link you get -

Core i7 970(3.2G,Smart Cache:12M, rev.B1,130W) ALL Since Bios 0507

However, if you look more closely....

Core i7 960(3.2G,L2:4x256KB,L3:8M, rev.D0,130W) ALL Since Bios 0402

Soooooo, it would seem the 970 was added into bios 0507, which is a later bios that 0402, so see if you are running 0402 and you could have your fix right hyar.

You can also try cpu-z v1.42 or 1.47.

I've found 1.56 not show memory info and more for a number of things recently.

I have ofcourse checked the bios, and downloaded the latest and flashed it, but it doesn't help either.

i just tried cpu-z 1.55 and it shows the voltage, i just didn't think it would work, as the changelog says 970 was added in 1.56. Well thanks for the help

Just tried starting Asus PC probe II for the second time, and alarms keep sounding, Cpu voltage gone to 0.02 and fan apperently shutting off and spu pll dropping too. these three alarms just keep looping

I wouldn't worry about it too much personally as it is most likely just reading the voltages incorrectly. When you're in the BIOS, does it show the correct voltage? I think the board may need a BIOS update or CPUZ needs one but I'm not too sure. I know that some older boards used to read the NB voltage rather than the vCore.
