Currently have an I3 2100 and MSI Z68A-G43 motherboard and thinking of upgrading my CPU to an i5 3570 k, just wondering if its worth keeping this board or will i need to upgrade to get the most out of the i5?
hi mate.
im not 100% but im pretty the 3570k is a z77 chipset cpu. so running it on a z68 board you'll prob lose out on some of the features the z77 brought along it
You can run a 3570K on your board just fine, you may need to update the boards BIOS to the latest revision but other than that you're golden. The only real advantage to Z77 boards is PCI-E 3.0 and most GPU's aren't hindered at all by PCI-E 2.0 yet so it doesn't even matter!

not ripping the board, but it'll be fine for the 3570k, but I wouldn't expect high-end
overclocks and with only a 4-pin EPS CPU voltage supply, I wouldn't really pass anything
over 4.0/4.2

I don't plan on over clocking though I know lol at least have a mess about
This rig isn't that old so I may just skip the upgrade for now and save up money for next rig, I got a switch 810 the other day and its just begging me to get water cooling, but I'm not WC an i3
