2 good articles at xbitlabs on this stuff, i think the test is better at 1024, it means there is more reliance on CPU power than GPU power generally, which means that if the differences between the CPUs are small at least they will be measureable, ramp up the res and GPU has more of a limiting effect which will hide the benefits of the fast CPU.

yes, in fact that's why when THG did their massive cpu test chart they went even lower with 800x600 as far as i recall to push as many frames from the GPUs as possible so that the CPUs would start to matter more.

Thats the point man, lol. Do you play games at 800x600 with a 7800?

I think 1024 is a good balance point, it makes the difference between the CPUs large enough to see and therefore easily rank them, and then you just have to realise that as you crank up the resolution the difference between all of them will decrease as the game becomes increasingly GPU limited.

You think i don't know that, im sick of benchmarks, that don't mean dick all. 1280x1024 is the best res, to run all tests. it's what most users have, with 17" and 19" LCD's. Anything less is stupid, with a high end video card test.

IMO until dothan has a secure desktop platform it cannot be considered a major competitor, to AMD, or Intels other lineup.

When I clicked the link I was hoping to see the Dothan in there :(

Yeah but overclocks are so dependant on cooling with them that it would be hard to figure out how well an overclocked one would do.

But would some idea would be better than no idea?
