Well I am finally upgrading my rig.
I currently have an AMD FX - 6100 @ 4.1GHz cooled by a Noctua NH-U12P (ULNA) and a Biostar TA970 motherboard the rest of my system will be staying as is but in case anyone is interested or if its needed it is:
XFX HD 7870 GHz
8GB(2x4GB) Crucial Ballsix Sport 1600mhz (OC to 2133)
XFX XXX 650watt PSU

So I use this rig purely for gaming and a little bit of very mild overclocking nothing else so for £230 what can I get or what should I really look into. AMD or Intel I have no preference but I cannot spend anymore than £230.
In advance cheers to every and anyone who helps me out here and please do not start and AMD VS Intel debate.
Thanks

Considering that you want to upgrade the CPU and motherboard you could go to Intel, but for an upgrade, you want an i5 (and then may aswell go haswell)

However the Haswell i5 and z87 motherboard will push you over budget....so....

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor (£138.98 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: MSI 990FXA-GD65 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£83.15 @ Aria PC)
Total: £222.13

Even that though is money wasted IMO. as the 8350 cpu is compatible on your current board.

True but my current board is pretty limited I know my CPU can hit 4.6 but there is something about it that's limiting it and it would be nice to have a better looking board as well, I have the money so I don't mind spending it :)
