Cpu and mb combo advice please

I had my mind made up that i was going to build my new pc with an x6 1090t and an 890fx mobo, but after reading some points made by tom and the mods i really do have to bow to their wisdom and admit they have some convincing points regarding intel cpu's. soooooooo, here's the thing, i want the pc for video encoding, some photoshop, a few games such as borderlands and dragon age, and of course general web browsing. I will be using an nvidia gtx 460 graphics card because my encoding software is multi threaded but also has cuda support that it claims will make my encoding 500 percent faster. I'll also be using 2 samsung 1TB f3's in raid zero because i dont think the degradation problem in the cells of an ssd has been properly fixed yet. The power supply will be a 700w ocz fatal1ty modular supply. So with a cpu and mobo budget of around 300 - 350 what would you suggest is a great combo? (baring in mind that i'll be coming back when its built so you kind people can help me overclock it)

Many thanks =o)

I'd say i7-950 + Asus P6X58D-E/Asus Sabertooth, but that would be around 400 pounds. You could go for the 930, but the difference would only be around 10 pounds so I would go for the 950. The cheaper way would be to go for an i7-870 and for example an Asus P7P55D-E which would be around 320 pounds I think.

first of all you say WILL be an ocz psu. please for the love of god dont buy OCZ!

for £350 its a bit over but a Sabertooth and the 950, youll then need some ram and the Mushkin 998826 kit (1600mhz 686-24) is pukka.

Youll also be needing a Noctua NH-D14 if you want to overclock

SSD's are also fine fella

thanks for advice, (makes a mental note about ocz). i was going to get it because it was certified 80+ and the modular cables were flat like sata cables, and i do like a tidy case..... you all seem to recommend a similar rig so i'd be a fool not to take your good advice. i'll just wait until after xmas and get the more expensive components then (daughter wants horse riding equipment for xmas and son wants video equipment for his youtube animations so they come first). Thank you all =o)

In scoobydoo Villian style.... I'd a got the rig I wanted if it wasn't for you pesky kids!!

I got three rugrats to cater for so my rig comes last, feel your pain! Expensive interests they have too. Horses and video editing, what ever happened to kids clearing off in a morning and playing out all day till sunset coming home safe and not costing parents a penny.

Any way I digress......
