CPU and GPU Folding

Just a few questions.

1. Is it worth it to fold on my gay CPU before i upgrade to an i5, its a AMD 955 @ 4Ghz.

2. Do i have to disable SLI to do it when i get another card?

3. And how do i do my sig thing??

Folding on any CPU is worth it, all points add up. Not sure if you have to disable SLI, I don't think you do though.

For your sig SnW is working on a guide or there is this one by PCTwin LINK

That CPU will crunch through the -advmethods work units nicely.

SLI and Folding is fine, I run with several sets of 460GTX in SLI, all stable.

The sig will be easier once you have a few WU completed and submitted. Once they're in, EOC will have you on their stats after a few hours and you'll have your EOC user ID which we can use to make your sig.

Got the CPU going now too, will be much better when i get my i5 and 2nd GPU.

GPU is still superfast compared to CPU, i got over 40,000 folding for another team a while back just on a 192 core GTX 260

Yeah, the GPU WU are much faster to complete but they're worth much less. We build up the big GPU PPD but Folding dozens a day.

There is a 9800GX2 at work unused, i assume that would be kickass for folding??

It would. You would be able to set it up as two GPU2 Clients.

In GPU tracker

Setup > configure > tracker settings and click get ECOID.

If you have just finished a WU it might take a while for your ID to show.

Ahh thats probly why, as my sig is the same as everyone esle but it just doesnt show anything yet, cant belive i got over 1200 points from 1 WU!

Yeah you need to give it a while before it will work mine took a couple of hours after my first WU.

1200 is good going for your first WU

Yeah, I folder for like 6 months on a GTX 260 and only got 40,000 in all that time.
